That strategy works for them but not for the consumers as proven time and time again. The only winner of this strategy is the manufacturer and the only loser is the customer.
Why because, globally, these cars (Sportage, Elantra, Sonata, Civic, Camry, Accord, Haval etc.) are considered a disposable commodity, bottom of the market eco cars and not Aston Martins, Bentleys, Rolls Royce that actually have a high margin, low volume sales strategy.
