5w30 vs 0w20 altis grande

Bro iv first time used 5w 30 in grande FL n driven 4500 km on high speed per hour on mtway almost 4000 km no reduction. I think fully synthetic 5w 30 should compete ur standard . But not total or shell.
Fully synthetic means lab gen 3 or upwards oil like Mobil,liqu standards. I'm using lukoil

In F1? 0w base oils are used. Why would they use "thicker" oil when prime objective is increasing engine efficiency and decreasing the friction

you are mixing two different things. F1 and track do not mean the same. Track day recommendation automatically means the certain engine is a production passenger car engine.

some manufacturers who do make track day cars have loose built engines which do take thick oil.

A corolla on motorway in Punjab cannot be considered a track car on a track.

Using Total 5w30 in 9 years old Civic Reborn (115K on Odo) drove it many times non stop LHR-ISB during summer on high rpms with A/C, Never reduced oil. My brother using 0w20 in his PKDM WagonR, frequently drove on motorway during peak summers - He like to high rev the engine, Not a single drop of oil reduce in last 1.5 year.... I think 1ZRFE should be more robust than a K10B at least.

Plus like some gentlemen mentioned all ICE engine consume some oil - engine manufacturer does add disclaimer for a 1ZRFE it is .5 liter per 6000/km. Internationally Toyota recommend 0W20 oil for said engine, IMC will only list the option they have.

I am loving the 0w-20 experience on my Grande Facelift. Ride feels so light and responsive. Recently did two trips of Hazara Motorway and Murree Expressway. It went like breeze and so smooth effortless and noiseless. This is my second fill of Total 0w-20. Total 8,000 kms done and totally satisfied.

ODO is 43,000 kms. Earlier was using Taglon 5w-50.

it might be because old 1krs have a reputation of oil consumption and mechanics/respected ustaads recommend thicker oils ... with the irony not being lost on them that its those very same thicker (than recommended) oils that may have caused the deterioration in the engine in the first place
I have had the same recommendation at caltex company oil changes for my 1kr belta - which does like to drink a bit

I think that chances are either the oil used was old (having lost some percentage of its viscosity) or was not original.

if mobil had been used, this reduction might not have happened. Always ensure that oil should be original whichever number / viscosity

IMC manufacturer 65% of the Corolla here in Pakistan, the rest of 35% are being imported from Thailand and other countries. Engine and Transmissions doesn't manufacture here and being imported since the birth of IMC so it's better to follow what the Toyota Official recommends rather than what the IMC wrote on the car owner's manual. Simply pour the Liqui Moly 0W-20 fully synthetic at your next oil change.

IMC has updated the user manual and added 5w-50 in the recommended grades.

In my personal experience of using 0w-20, 0w-40 in Grande and now again using 5w-50 Taglon, Taglon suits Corolla engine best and gives better mileage than all other grades.

Said this before and no one believed me. Yes it gives me better fuel economy on 5w50 as compared to 5w30. Imc knows better than pakwheels.
5w30 120km/h=15km/l
5w50 120km/h=17km/l

Fuel economy remained the same within city. I don't know what's the fuss in following a manual given with car. Then mechanics will say mota oil engine kharab kar day ga. 143k kms driven, still the drained quantity is 3.8L (without oil filter oil in it) at 10k kms.

Lol hahaha... outside 115F Temperature got nothing to do with the oil heat range, oil is safer to operate at +220F Temperature whereas car's normal temperature is 195F. 0W-20 is designed to operate at extreme temperatures as well as below zero. 0W-20 got a higher melting point. As long as you're not using your car for Heavy Hauling or Hills, it's safer to use 0W-20 for the domestic cars. Toyota official recommends 0W-20 for 1ZR-FE and 2ZR-FE

I wanted to share my experience i was using shell 5w30 in my 1szfe engine from last 3 years this time i changed my oil from 5w30 to shell 5w20 ... and believe me my engine voice and pick is so smooth .. will observe how much oil it reduce if its same as of 5w30 then i will continue to use it...

I'm unable to find anything funny in my comment that made you laugh, anyway, I think you've got more knowledge than Toyota Pakistan because they have recommended 5W-30 in their Owners Manual which they provide with the Corolla and I'm talking about Toyota Pakistan Official.

It's pointless to quote a Russian website for the recommendation while you're using your car in Pakistan. By the way, in my comment, I just suggested to the OP, and even, in the end, I wrote "The rest is your choice." which means that the above comment is my suggestion, if you want to use 0W-20 in your Corolla, it's your choice.

Either taglon 5w50 is not a w50 or this oil is so shit that it loses its VI modifiers within 100 kms and becomes a regular 5w20 oil

I put mobil full synth 5w50 in my old ass camry 2.4, and I have two results.
1 is that my fuel mileage dropped badly and cold starts are louder and the engine is very clanky till it fully warms up.

2 is that I can literally feel the vvt slowly advancing in the midrange rpm - previously it was seamless and the engine had a pretty healthy powercurve. Now it has a slow reacting power curve.

Its going in the recycler drum soon.
