going anything heavier than w30 is a headache, you get a heavily varnished engine or even bad caramelization on the piston ring stack as its too thick to actively flow. You will also get stupid issues like lazy VVT or noisy engine when cold.

dont just listen for noise on startup, but noise while running.

Yeah, they poured 5w30 in it. He sold his old volvo s80 to the junkyard, if you were nearby Kansas then he would have brought it to you, but the rear brakes just gave up. Also it had super miles like 150k.

any volvo with 150K miles is called "not fully ravaan" - I have clients with the same car and have more than 250K on it. Work like a top.

probably the reason his brakes let go was not changing out brake fluid every year, its necessary on all cars. Otherwise you have to replace entire calipers which are pricey.

btw - first 4 oil changes are usually free on corolla, get them to install the right oil next time. 0w20 is a bit pricier than cheapo 5w30

In uS recommended grade is 0w-20 as per all manuals..and its also important as per cafe standards. Other parts of the world, including Australia uses 5w-30

So just continue 0w20

Cant say much though but i have a passo 2013 1lac kms done.
Was previously on 20w50
Now poured 10w30 havoline and believe me it literally thanked me as if it was caged fr years.
Fuel average improved, engine efficiency and acceleration responsiveness improved, engine noise reduced, although, this still ain't the recommended grade for passo. My point here is, this grade is too thick and i have had a bad experience with it.

Engine will work perfectly fine on both 0w20 and 5w30.

US is the place for innovation and best technology practices.

And, they have even more severe driving conditions than Pakistan. Much colder in alaska. Much hotter in the deserts of AZ n NV. Heck they even drive faster on average. And drive much more than avg Pak driver.

They use 0w20 everywhere.

Because that's the best oil.

So, if you want the best oil, best fuel economy, smoothness.. go for 0w20.

Otherwise 5w30 is also fine and will not ruin the engine. Just won't give as much engine smoothness n fuel efficiency as 0w20.

Ever been to rahimyarkhan and sibi?
Does nevada and arizona deserts are hotter then cholistan? 120 farhenheit is the max at Nevada (it's in Lahore summers). Arizona can go upto 51 degree celcius max.
Please do your research next time before pointing useless fingers on someone. Who drives consistently for like 800miles in USA? COPS will be dragging you out of car if you'll do that.
Simple story. I drove towards Multan at 160-180km/h cruise on and came back in june during afternoon. Faced 600ml oil reduction instantly on total 5w30.
I changed oil in Lahore and I went to rahimyarkhan in june around 12pm. Drove consistently on 160km/h with cruise on and faced 800ml oil reduction on fresh oil.
I have poured 0w40 Mobil 1 in the same car and at 7000kms with two long trips, oil is at full mark on dipstick.

Please read the concept of thermodynamics.
You can follow USA research and pour that oil. I will follow toyota imc which is manufacturer of toyota corolla Pakistan. Simple is that!
If I had a JDM corolla then I would have gone for 0w20 too.

So, if you want the best oil, best fuel economy, smoothness.. go for 0w20

I don't know what best fuel economy figures are you talking about. 0-100km/h of my car is 9 seconds on 0w40 and fuel economy I got on 5w50, 0w40 and 5w30 remains the same 17km/l at 120km/h.

5w30 is what I'm using in my car. A 2019, 1.8 corolla. Works well, is what's recommended in the manual. You can choose 0w20 too. It's used in Toyota's worldwide. Regardless of climate. It's a thinner, less viscous oil and is great at cold start ups. Go for It. I'll personally be shifting to Total 0W20 for my next oil.

You really need to replace brake fluid. Unless you'll end up replacing that master cylinder. Also Coolant needs to replaced as well. A proper flush and re-fill. I think the brake fluid is DOT 3. Again, refer to your owners manual.

Go to motorway again and let me know the number of cars that crossed you way above your speed limit that is 120km/h.
In between Lahore to Islamabad I can easily notice 10-20 of them.
Well I also drive normally at 120km/h, but It was an emergency.

Im saying that corolla has very little sound insulation and neither is it behaved at high speeds - I applaud you for taking it to 180 kph.

The facelift has better characteristics. It can do 180+ and you won't feel as if you were ever losing control.
