7000 Imported cars stuck in Karachi Port

Used car importers are seeking clearance of more than 7,000 cars held up at Karachi port imported in violation of procedures.
7000 cars means 10.5B rupees (15lacs car price on average) of showroom owners and dealers money stuck in port. Think about it if this will release, then how much economy will boost for small dealers. I personally know someone whom 4 cars stuck on it and he lost every thing including his house to deliver back money to investors.
Those who are considering them complete violation, it is not the case since there is a lag in process, some orders cars in 2016~2017 and these arrive in 2018 when new restrictions imposed. No one is that stupid to book a car without knowing the rules here. I can bet there is not a single car among them import in 2019.

PTI government should release these cars and allow people to use their money.

Unfortunately, here, policies change momentarily, in a single day.

Sub aik S.R.O. ki ma'ar hota hai, it comes, and affectees rull jatay hain.

If one has ordered something from abroad as per current rules, the product is in transit, and suddenly an S.R.O. comes and rules change, product comes at port and gets stuck; mujhay nai samajh aati k is mein uss consumer kya kya qasuur hai, jissnay product order ki thi? based on rules present at that time?

In the past, Govt. / concerned authorities used to listen to the grievances of the affectees, and give some relief, but ub aesa hota nazar nai aa raha.

A country, where there is no consistency in policies, etc. cannot flourish / succeed.

This S.R.O. (Statutory Regulatory Order) culture needs to be abandoned, and policies be implemented after at least 06 months / more after approval. In any case, it should never apply on any such item, which had been processed before issuance of that order / policy.

Usually SRO after BL date isn't valid. Which means if something was shipped before the sro you can still take it out on old rules.

YES. You may be right, but what if, the item has been bought, but is in the process of shipping from abroad (like in transit from place A to place B in country X) and not finally shipped from port, and BL not issued yet?

Yes for such items a deadline should be issued. So that one can wind up. But unfortunately in pakistan people come up with stay orders.

These cars should be crushed and recycled, no use in releasing black money in the form of scrapped vehicles.

Let them rot for another decade then release them at full value.

Coming from your position it may look like a logical choice but people have invested hard earned cash on these. They just wanted to make a tidy profit and if the cars are cruahed they will lose a huge mount of capital and suffer immensely

If you invest hard earned cash in drugs, its perfectly acceptable that you will never see the money again.

Similarly, you can invest hard earned cash in "double" schemes and get scammed.

Hard earned cash is not a sacred deity that can defy sovereign laws.

In these cars case, the monies and owner of cars are two separate identities with no paper trail linking both in legal ways.

So, like any rational decision these automatically become illegal.
