Actually i purchased a corolla xe 1999 and convert it into JDM Corolla (Saloon) means change all the interior, lights, bumper, s.meter. stearing whells, seats, power mirror and lot of other things now i want to change the underpowered engine 2e with some good engine like 4afe or 7afe. and its a daily runner.

No need of parts right now but i am thinking if i need some tihng in future for regular maintainence.

I have a 97 corolla with a 7afe. Been running for two years now without any problems. It is a wonderful engine with bucketloads of torque. The engine delivers enough thrust without needing to rev very high so it is a very relaxing engine to drive.

My friend has a 7afe auto in an 86 corolla and it runs just fine on CNG too.

Parts are available easily.

There are two different versions though, one is with coils and no distributor, this one also has a butterfly system in its intake tract, that makes the engine switch from 12 to 16 valve operation after 4000 rpm for full power delivery on the top end. It is a similar system to the TVIS used on some models of the 4age 16 valve engine.

The other 7afe is a regular one with a distributor.

I would recommend this engine having used it for a while now. It will sit straight on the existing mounts of the 2e carby engine that came in this car.

how much are getting the engine for and from where?

The engine should come with its own gearbox, so go for a complete setup with all wiring, sensors, mechanical parts and electronics included.

The swap should be a two day affair, given all parts are in working condition. You know second hand items are always a risk.

The engine came in a lot of toyota vehicles, including a corolla so no worries on that front either.

yes the gear box will have to be changed and i think if you are in islamabad, you will probably go to pindi where i think you should be able to find this engine for 35k to 45k along with installation.

but to be more precise, you will have to visit market.

7AFE -is 1.8 And 4AFE is 1.6 as 4AFE came in local corolla marked by 1.6gli from 95 to 2002 and 7AFE came in corona which is a JDM version as far as i know 4AFE is superb but it's local marked engine as 7AFE will be heavier on Fuel and probably more torquier than 4AFE....

I Think 7AFE Won't Bolt-On Directly On 2E Mounts.....The Driving Side Mount Need A Bit Alter.....!! Either Get A Mount And Drill New Place So It Bolt-On Or Some Makes Supporting Stripe For Mount....

Its Confirmed That Its Not A Bolt-On...!!

bth are almost same 7afe has a bit long crank case infact its double crank cased and i had it in ma rolla its fixed on its original 12 vlve foundations plce no such problems from my side

i talked with Aaqib (Machizmo @ Pakwheels) and he said that its 100% bolt on 2E foundations nothing have to alter for it.

the main thing is that i am bit confused b/w 4afe and 7afe

a friend in sultan ka khu quote me a engine 4afe with all thing and its like brand new infact it is in a half cut.

and my requirement is better pick on cng and petrol and car is daily driven

so i just need to know the exact difference b/w the pick and accelartion of 4afe & 7afe.

Yes my car is a daily runner.

Does 14 on the motorway, 11 approx in Lahore with A/C.

Oil filter is the same as 1.6 GLi, same is the case for air filter!

Takes 04 litres of mobil oil. Both torque and HP are a little higher than 4afe, but I have never raced a 1.6 gli so don't know the exact difference in performance. I did chase an se saloon once and would catch it in no time, so I guess the extra pulling power does make it a livelier car!
