turn on the ac, let someone sit inside and slightly rev, say to 1200 rpm, touch the metal part of the ac hose going into the cabin, if its freezing cold, your gas is alright and the problem is elsewhere, your car has been exposed to dust, you may need to service your ac from a reputed place to get a chilling LC

your condensor, its dirty, first clean it with pressurized air to blow away the dust, once the dust is gone, then wash it with water.
THe easiest way to check is, go out now, start the car, turn on the ac, go out and pour water on the condensor and check the cooling inside.
Its most probably that

@tintin1 bhai clean the condenser first if not then get the AC serviced. don't mess about it yourself.

I owned a 80 back in 2017. I had same AC issue in it. I got it serviced and even changed its cooling unit as it started leaking after it was washed. Its condition was like it was never serviced before ever and the dust which becomes mud in humid weather made it rusted and there was leakage. So once cleaned it started leaking at one point.

After changing cooling unit the cooling was excellent but at peak times standing at signals it was ok (but was not that bad to blow hot air). If i keep the engine at 1200-1300 on stand still it started working better. What the AC guy recommended was to put a separate ac fan as on stand still my engine was at around 800rpm and it was not enough to cool out the condensor. And i think 80s dont have that fan so its a problem in them. Before trying that I found someone interested in buying my jeep and i gave him the keys on the spot

Do nothing it's too hot for this 17 number compressor.
The high side pressure raises in this scorching heat. Do a favor with the vehicle as mentioned by @dayrider service the condenser and hook up front mounted condenser fans.

AC Gas, check and resolve if required.

Add auxiliary electric fan on condenser that turns on with the ac but from a electrician that understands how much pull/push is required. The fan does make a difference on old AC units and is an easy an economical add on which works.

For better flow in the cabin, get the blower motor and fan both inspected and if required replaced with an upgraded unit. Also a good and economical add on for old SUVs.

start with the condenser cleaning, doesn't cost much and the issue will most probably get resolved, as the night time cooling is amazing, its your dirty condenser that wants attention, all other issues would be possible if there was no night time cooling
