Rule of thumb is that we never use a scrapyard oil cooler.
But in the oddchance we have to use it, its mandatory to powerflush it backwards with hot atf or some other cleaner before installing.
Make sure you use atf rated rubber pipes for it. Its a very expensive mistake if you dont.
For pipe clamps dont use regular perforated thread jublilee clamps, find some oetiker clamps or band clamps with screws on separate ears. Or make your own clamps with stainless steel wire.
The last one requires you make a special tool but its quite easy. I also prefer to make the angled runs with metal pipe and use rubber pieces to join the ends, but thats because Im crazy
