Thanks.Actually I wanted to confirm that is this fine or should the rpm be less than this @80km/hour or is there any room for further improvement?So thanks for the info that its fine..

And just to understand, whats the cause for high rpm but the car not speeding up?I mean if the car shows 3000rpm @80km/hour in 5th gear?

Mine is doing 80km/hr at 2000rpm.M just assuming that is it possible in case of a weak engine or so that any car does the same 80km/hr at 3000rpm?Just to know that what is the cause of mismatch of rpm and speed?

No sir i dont think weak engine will have this outcome. Tyre size se faraq parta hai laikin 500 rpm ka nahin par sakta 2.0D saloon main.

i dont know, my Charade on CNG 1000cc, does 80 on 2000rpm. Yours should do more.

This is a very good tip to save fuel.. i always do the same with ma 2.OD... tried the same thing on ma GLI on GT Road...but it doesnt cork it out,,, i cant control ma self from speeding in 5th Gear and challan of Rs. 750.00 so droved in 4th gear afterwards

brother how could clutch effect or control the rpm????...........isnt it that way,that low gears high rpm.......and that 2000 rpm is not that high.....when u could do 6000+ rpm..........

the gears are matched to rotational ratios - that means if a solid drive on 5th gear in your car can spin the engine @ 2000 rpm with the vehicle speed of 80 km/h - its a mechanical calculation, If you see more than 2000 rpm on your rpm with the same vehicle speed, your clutch is slipping causing the engine to spin faster and the transmission to spin slower, but usually its very detectable as such a slip will cause a car to take forever to attain such speeds
