Good.
The thing to consider is, these cars are old and not perfect, so only gauges cannot be relied upon. Sight glass is an easy way to assess if you are doing it correctly or not.
Plus tools (gauges and thermometer) is an excellent investment.
And both inlet and outlet pipe of dryer are at same temperature at optimum gas level.
It's good that you verified gas charge by multiple ways. Cross check is most important.
