If you are resident of Rawalpindi or Islamabad and planning to go explored places like Saji Kot Waterfall, Neelwan Ponds or Samba/swake lake and you are unable to go there due to your day to day commitments, then Nillah Sandh is a place you should visit without any delay. Reason why I am suggesting this is, it is hardly 30-40 mins (31Kilometers) drive from Islamabad Expressway Khanna pul. Road is perfectly OK for any vehicle (bikes or cars). Best thing about this place is, you won't need any hike up or hike down at all. Ponds are right beside the road.
Starting from Khanna pul, you will have to take the Lehtrar Road towards Kotli Sattian which is a double road. If you are planning to do BBQ things, then it is recommended to take requisite items from Khanna market. Once you will pass Nilore, you will hardly find a market to purchase any item.
The last big market you will pass by is around 12KM from Khanna Pul. This place is named as Jhang Syedaa'n.Road is two way till Thandpani which is around 14KM from Khanna pul. But don't worry, the rest of the road is carpeted and good for any vehicle.
I would not say that the way to Nillah Sandh is awesome or lush green or anything like that. It is a very normal route with mostly populated areas. But once you cross Della, you will enter into the hilly area.
The last place where you can find a driver's hotel is Chirah Chowk which is 18KM from Khanna pul. You can have a stop at Chirah Chowk if you want but I would not recommend it as it is not a long travelling for which you will need a stop.
Now you are only 13KM away from Nillah Sandh. There is a Government School named Islamabad Model School for Boys Della which is 5KM ahead of Chirah Chowk on left side of the road. Once you will cross this school, you will have to drive up the hill but the elevation is not that much, I would say it is less than the elevations on the road to Damn e Koh. Once you will cover the elevation, there is around 1KM of deviation and there you are at Nillah Sandh bridge.
Now you need to have a bit of self-knowing - Are you a good swimmer? if so, go to the ponds on the left of the road. Are you not a swimmer or a bad swimmer? if so, go to the ponds that are on right of the road. Ideally you can take some life jackets or typically car tubes with you.
Depth of the pond which is on left of the road is too much. I witnessed a guy jumping from height of minimum 35 feet into that pond which means it has SOME depth.
Maximum time you need for this trip is 5 hours. So, pack up this weekend and go ahead. If you need any further information. Leave a reply and I will be here for your queries.
