A memorable tour to Fairy meadows & Nanga Parbat base camp

1) We stayed in Broadview hotel and it has the best location among all the hotels of FM. Fazal ur Rehman is manager and his # 0312-9705843

2) We pitched our tent in hotel ground. Electricity is available in all the hotels so u can charge ur mobiles and cameras. Mobiles don't work at FM but there is a signal point just behind Broadview hotel so u can use ur mobiles.

3) I have been told u what our guide told us. Actually FM and surrounding is property of Locals and Tourism is only their main source of income. Local have the right to say that you are not allowed to camp there at his place. So its better to give them some benefit by camping in their vicinity. Its also economical.

Huzaifa... Its brave that you people did this trek. But one of the facts that i must share from my tour in 2007 when we were coming back from Tatoo to Raikot bridge, the jeep driver spotted a snake on road side and we all witnessed with our eyes and in camera.... No doubt its dangerous to trek on this route(At least for the visitors). Thanks Allah you guys are safe.

But I think these kinds of dangers are present on every trek.

Dear Friend, can you tell me a bit more about your return trip from raikot onwards. Is the bus easily available from raikot to chilas. What is the ideal time to pick a buss. Also can we get a bus for gilgat too from there or only busses for chilas are available there.

We did not book the seats in advance. We reached Raikot bridge at 9:15am and catched the bus at 12: 30pm. We passed the waiting time in Shangrilla hotel.

Buses are easily available. Ideal time is 12: 00pm to 02: 00pm.
You can get for gilgit easily in day time.

Also did you start ur journey on pindi to gilgat bus? beacause i have heard that there are busses that go from pindi to Astore as well. How much is the rent for one way and also are there any other busses beside NATCO that travel from pindi to Raikot Bridge or Giglat. Last what If we reach NATCO bus stop without booking. Is there a possibility of getting the seat if we reach there around 2Pm?

Offices numbers usually behave like that :). If ur friend, cousin lives in pindi/isb then simply request them to go NATCO office and get all the info u required.

Yes. On 8pm night time.

Yes. There are other companies too. You can find their stands in Pir Wadhai General bus stand. Beside the Hino buses, Toyota coasters also run on this route.

Sirf peak season main NATCO buses pr rush hota hai otherwise NATCO ki buses completely fill bhi nahi hoti. Har bus main kuch seats bach jati hain. But its better u book ur seats in advance so that u may get front seats. I dnt knw about 2pm time.

A local of Fantoori village (Fairy meadows) is taking supply for his home from Jhail Valley (Last Jeepable point).

Locals adopt this chain for their supply:

Gilgit --> Raikot Bridge --> Jhail Valley via Tattu --> Fairy meadows.

Awsome adventure and courage, no doubt about it. Just one thing, I have seen ur pics and that track from Raikot to Tatu and then Tatu to Fairy meadows dont have any clear track. Speciallay while tracking from raikot to Tatu, there are no clear track marks. How did u guys know which way to move forward from R-Kot. AND was it easy for you to find your way from R-Kot till Tatu?? Are there any chances that one may loose path or track?

Raikot to Tatu is a Jeep track which starts from Raikot Bridge and leads u to Tatu. Its a wide and clear track. We simply walked on track and reached Tatu. No chances of losing track/path.

I think u just saw the pics of thread and did not read complete travelogue

The Jeep track goes through Tatu till Jhail. It is the last jeepable point. There is a hotel on this point and the track of Fairy meadows starts from this hotel (3 hrs trek). You can get guidance of the track from hotel.

But I will advise u that if u have not much experience of long trekking then do not attempt from Raikot. Better u hire a jeep and go till Jhail point and attempt last 3 hrs trek.

Fantoori lake is in Fairy meadows.

I did tatu trak abt a decade before,,, with a bottle filled by water of river indus at raikot bridge....
