I am student of Architecture Design in NCA working on my thesis project. And I'm planning on making a Complex for motorheads where they can test out their projects on various tracks (drag, drift, dirt, grip etc.) all year round, and a museum to showcase the automobile industry and heritage of motorsports in Pakistan. A designated space for people to meet up and show their loved vehicles off to the world and organize events of any scale.
And most importantly, to hold a major annual event for all above mentioned programs of a standard in comparison of "Goodwood festival of speed" or "SEMA" etc.
- Motorcycles, Cars, Trucks, RV, anything that one wants to show for the Meets.
- Races of different categories eg. Drag, Off road, Track etc.
- Stunt shows
- Parades
- Auto shows etc.
I am selecting the site (1200 acres) right opposite to Islamabad Medical & Dental College in Barakahu, Islamabad as it is accessible for locals of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and very easy access from Airport for visitors.
Basically the scope of the project is to develop Motorsports in Pakistan that is growing with quite a pace in Pakistan. Being a motorhead since childhood myself, I too have felt quite a deficiency in this aspect as their are very few local competitions or events that would have promoted this sport or encouraged the young ones to pursue it professionally. On the other hand, sadly, this has been frowned upon by the society. But this is where the stigma ends when the racing is taken off the streets to a designated place and it becomes civilized. Where the activities are taken to their dedicated place and conducted under supervision and standards to ensure everyone gets the right to enjoy the thrill of sport without putting themselves or others in danger. Where one can educate himself of the culture, skill and enjoy what he loves. Weekly challenges, Drag strips for people to test their cars all year long, Tracks and Courses for practicing Drifting or Racing, Workshops to tune on spot or build cars, Museum/ Showcase to build and to remember our heritage, and just a place to hangout and meet up with the community and to spectate the racers and learn from them. And obviously a themed restaurant to fuel ourselves up.
What I want from you folks is to help me with your thoughts and ideas and what you think we need and what we lack. Or if there are any contradictions regarding anything. Basically a general discussion over this topic and what can be some improvements if even this is needed in the first place.
