the advantages which are
i always know that if my vtec is working or not
if there is a prblem in vtec light wont turn on

you will only know if there is current going to the vtec or not...if there is a mechanical failure, you will not know, and the light will still come on.

great DIY bro ...I should put a DOCH light in my swift's meter ......then i will know if DOCH KICKED in....

yes u are right bit there is the kick also after light comes on.main reason for the light is to note electrical failure.

nevet got a chnce to open citys meter but em sure process would be same there should be a slot for an extra light.bt cant say for sure.

to counter the mechanical failure bit - you need to work out an oil pressure switch solution - this pressure switch would trigger when the spool valve opens up and allows high pressure oil into the rocker shafts which causes vtec to function.

Its described in the factory service manual as a test procedure.

anyway - there is also a bulletin to never mix up the vtec rockers - they are matched parts. 100% of the times mechanics take all apart and clean them with "sandpaper" or wire brushes because they took out the thermostat, never cleaned the PCV valve which sludged the engine to hell.

Nice effort, but the lights in instrument panel are for warning purpose. They indicate a problem, whenever a warning light turns on, telling the owner to fix that problem. Forexample, check engine light, brake warning light, oil pressure light, low battery light. These are all indications of problems that need to e fixed. In your case it would be vtec problem warning light, indicating there is something wrong with vtec system, or atleast that is how an avg. person would interprert it, whenever you decide to sell that car.

what happens if u unplug the vtec? does it increase efficiency or lower it? generally..? (ofcourse it would lower performance but efficiency maybe it increases..?)

Here it is a oem 92-95 civic gauge cluster with vtec light.

you forgot to mention the indicator lights, the headlights ON light, high-beam ON light etc., they are purposely etched on the gauge cluster to inform the driver in quick glance that he has triggered them, doesn't matter if they actually work or not.
