ABS Brakes

Can ABS Brakes be installed in any car? say Revo, city etc..
If yes what will be the cost?
Where to install from?

The mod could be done, but you would need to first find a donor vehicle which will have parts that fit your car. The main thing is the wheel hubs with ABS sensors that will need to be installed for the ABS to work at all. Then you will need to route the braking system through the ABS unit.

You have to arrange the brake assembly of an ABS system having all the sensors intact, then you have to arrange the ABS pressure regulator and servo and finally the ECU and wiring for ABS and necessary piping. It is also worth noticing that you must arrange an expert mechanic (having experience in ABS) to do all the necessary stuff for you.

The expected cost should be around 25-30K .....

there is no risk unless you have a good and experienced mechanic.

i am assuming you have drum style brakes in your car. you will need brake rotors, calipers, pads, brake lines, ABS sensor and you will have to modify the ECU to have this done.

unless you have a problem with your existing setup, its not worth the cost.

and whoever said you need brembo cross drilled rotors is obviously not giving the right advice. cross drilled rotors are required for high performance setups...while they dissipate heat from braking quicker, they wear out faster and expensive to replace when done.

i dont think so that the abs ecu is built in the engine management system.... the computer for the abs is seperate..
and abs can be and is installed in drum brakes e.g szuki liana...

this might seem to be a stupid question but i wanted to know in cars having ABS, is it working everytime you apply the brakes or they kick in action on hard braking?

Ghuncha...you obviously dont know about brakes so read this....

Regular drum brakes will simply lock when the pedal is depressed. The risk is that the tires may skid and you dont stop in time. You loose all steering control

On the other hand...ABS setups require use of anywhere from two to six pistons which are inside the brake calipers....these pistons inward and outward several times in a second instead of locking on the break. The result....you break the acceleration in a linear way and mantain steering control while braking.

So you dont install ABS over drum brakes....you either have a drum setup or a disc setup. If u know someone who has installed ABS over drums...let me know

is it advisable to go for ABS? i have a corolla with 4 discs. seems like a rocket science for mechanics here! and ya does ABS has a different ECU?

To your question, unless you have a problem with your existing braking performance, my answer is no. Its expensive and more importantly, you have to find the right parts for your vehicle...not all parts are compatible with all cars u know...thats general knowledge but some people can very well argue on that with me here....

i dont know about how much it will cost as i dont live in Pak.

if authorized dealers offer this ABS installation, then i would seriously think abt it.
