AC Issue in Prius 2010

I have AC issue in my Prius. I got it checked from a local mechanic in Lahore, who said evaporator coil needs to be replaced. Now the estimate I received from the person was somewhere in figure of PKR. 12,000 or more depending on part availability. I checked with another mechanic on mall road who said it can't be done in less than PKR 15,000.

If someone has any experience in replacing their evaporator coil for Prius, please help me out. The person said, whole dashboard needs to be opened and it will take whole days labour to replace and fill up with gas. Price rate is too high as well. One guy said the part costs PKR 8000 and rest is labour and gas service. I don't want my hybrid operated by inexperienced mechanics. Looking for help from senior members. Thank you.

Just to give u a reference... My Cultus 08 evap coil costed 8k new.... And it came out without removing the dash... Ofc every car is different and for prius whole dash may need to come out.... Just wait for other pw members here to guide u better for Lahore.

For mental satisfaction and quality work you should only visit Punjab car AC, but their prices are on the higher side.

I have got same model Prius and faced similar issue. We went to Punjab car ac Lahore and they replaced the evaporator coil. Total cost was 18000 but it was like 2 years ago. Completely satisfied by their services though charges are a bit on higher side

This thing would cost at least 15-18k in total. And dashboard needs to be opened and you can't trust any tom dick and Harry in this matter so go to any reputed person in lhr.

Dani the part costs 5k-8k at most. How can I justify 10k cost for just labour? I totally agree with your statement. Can't hand over hybrid to non professional mechanics. Going to Toyota dealers for this would satisfy my mind but their rate would be too high.

Two members have recommended Punjab Car AC. They are expensive and my budget doesn't allow me to try their service. Also they are getting mixed reviews on Google. Some people have complained about their staff's careless and rude behaviour.

Bro actually the labour of dash removal of prius is 6-10k.
Common cost of dash removal is between 4-10k. So it depends on the workshop or to the ac technician that how much they charge.. Those who are professionals and they don't leave any mistake never ever agree on anything lesser then 8-9k for dash removal of prius.
Cuz goons who just agree in 3-4k usually have no clue and they break many clips, and make the plastic panels useless... That's the thing im telling you.

Plus at least visit them and ask them how much time they will take and charges plus see how skilled they look.. As there are some shitheads who post unnecessary negative reviews according to there understanding so always visit in person and then see if they look good to u.
