Accidents spotted

Once I was travelling on my bike, when a man holding 02 children stopped at one side of the road and anticipated so that I, and other traffic, cars, etc. may pass (distance was in few meters). I anticipated, and speed was already low, when suddenly one the child let go of his / her arm, which that man was holding, and came instantly in front of my bike (from opposite direction, and to cross the road and go on the other side) and hit. I was already slow, immediately applied brakes, but he / she hit the front shock absorber, fell back / rebounded, and started crying (AL HAM DU LILLAH and luckily, the child was absolutely fine later).

People gathered and starting yelling at me that I had hit the child, etc. etc. I was clueless as to what I should say? and what bad had I done?

My question is:

Agar Koi achanak sey, khudd hi, aur jaantay huay, car ya bike k aagay aa jye, to main, ya koi b, kya kar sakta hai?

Luckily, the police was there, They came, and I told them as what had exactly happened? They noted down the particulars, and ma'amla on-spot and immediately khatam ho gya, but they gave me a lesson for the rest of my life, which I explain in my own words as follows, and advised me to be always careful and exercise caution in the future:

Its considered a pet rule here that if in case, there is collision / accident between a pedestrian and bicycle; bicycle will always be at fault. Between bike and bicycle, bike will be at fault. Between car and bike, car will be at fault, and so on...

Galti kisi ki b ho, zimmadaar hameesha next hierarchy wala hi ho ga...

(And this rule was taught to me by Kundian / Mianwali police)

This happened with my brother at Jail road Lahore. A motorbike with an uncle and his wife slipped on the road and hit the back tyre of our car...My brother had my sister and nephew niece in the car with him. He stopped the car to see what happened , people (including a police constable) started gathering and blaming my brother for hitting the bike.Even the bike wale uncle said this car hit me. A traffic police wala had seen the whole incident he came and told my brother to go out of the scene as he is nor responsible...the same point Between car and bike, car will be at fault, as mentioned earlier by @basitali87

Having dash cam and something for the rear is a must...to have evidence in case something bad happens.

Happened in Mandi Bahauddin. Driver of car died. May his soul rest in peace. 2 passengers injured.

exactly, this is one of the reasons for hit and run in our beloved country , sadly : ( cuz a guy in the car knows no one would believe him that the pedestrian was wrongfully crossing the road ...

i learnt the lesson the hard way too.. back in the years, i was on my Mehran..going through Band Road ..and a cycle came out of nowhere crossing the road.. i was somewhere at 50-60kmph, applied Mehran brakes as much as i could (by standing on the brake pedal) .... khair the cycle was hit when i was near standstill and the guy scraped by falling on the road and he (well it looked to me at least) acted as he passed out..and within a matter of few seconds some villagers gathered with sticks in their hands blaming me for the accident whilst i was saying he appeared out of nowhere and there are still screech marks on the road from the brakes i applied .. andar se to phat gyi thi meri..khair i put the guy in my Mehran, and shoot at max speed from the scene .. went to a clinic on Band Road, didn't know the name of.. and while the nurse was bandaging him...i paid at the counter and flew from the clinic : (

learnt the lesson the hard way too

Yup, I think we've all had this experience. Near Saggian Bypass once two bikes were trying to overtake each other (one of them was this milk delivery guy with large metal containers hanging on the sides) they touched and the milk guy fell infront of my car. Luckily I slammed the brakes on time and stopped inches from the milk guy. There was milk all over the road and the guy was badly injured. The other guy didn't even look back, just fled from the scene. I was thinking about getting out of the car and checking on the injured dude but then suddenly some people started banging on my doors and windows and shouting for me to come out of the car. I gathered my thoughts and told myself to just get out of there.
"ghareeb banda maar diya" "bahir nikal gari se, gari walay ghareeb ko insan nhn samajhtay" lol. Although I didn't even touch the guy. So I simply put the car in gear and raced off. Two guys on bikes chased me for a bit until I entered a clear stretch of road and was able to fend them off.

But Dash Cam might have its own legal / social issues.

People use them, and face no problems. Most even do not get caught. But if found using them and LEAs catch you, for what-so-ever reason; suspicion, etc. then one may land in troubles, especially in sensitive areas.

In a similar manner, once I was travelling on Niazi Express from Mianwali to Lahore, when near Quaidabad area, a biker suddenly came out of no where, and came from the link road to the main road, without looking left / right.

It was late night time, and the bus driver tried to save him, applied brakes, and our bus was just about to enter farms (like bachatay bachatay kachay mein uttar jana tha). Even might have overturned too, but ALLAH Ka Karam Hai, Bachat ho gye.

The bus driver got highly infuriated, stopped the bus, and was about to leave so at to beat the heck out of him, when the assistant stopped and told him that he is local. If you will beat him, all will gather and may damage bus, us (the passengers), as well as you and me.

He then later agreed to him with the heavy heart, and then we left for Lahore...

Uss din mujhay pata chala (being eye witness) and ehsaas hua that when we often read in the newspapers "... Bus motorcycle ko bachatay bachatay ult gye... " to usska matlab kya hota hai? and how does it feel?

Kisi aik insaan ki choti c hamakatt, chawalli, jald baazi, bewakuufi, etc. bohat c Insani Jaano'on ko khatray mein daal daiti hai...

Such thing has happened twice to my relative's house in F-7. Islamabad. Both time it was a Land cruiser with drunk drivers.

I think, similar case seems in the above accident, or, the car lost control due to high speed.

a biker suddenly came out of no where,

90% of the time, bikers are at fault, but get away unnoticed from the event : ( ...
especially when it comes to scratches , they will literally smile at your helplessness and go away
on a busy street, i was in my cultus, a biker just crossed the road suddenly out of nowhere scratching my bumper..i was looking at him eye to eye, he smiled and flew the scene .. i was like WTH, at least he could've said a word of apology : (

back in 2011 I was travelling with my wife from DG Khan to Lahore. On DG Khan Multan road one biker with a 3-4 years old in his front had to turn right on a small road going in a village. Standing on the left side of the highway (single road at that time) With his phone in his one hand instead of looking at the road he was looking towards the small road on which he intended to go. Without looking at the highway traffic he just turned towards the small road. I was coming at a speed of 75-80 and BANG!!! this guy hit my car the flied for a good 2-3 metres and hit straight into my windscreen on the right side. The windscreen got badly damaged on right side. the kid flied and landed on bonnet of my car and fell down on the road my car still not stopped . I applied brakes and thank God the car just stopped before getting over the kid. The kid and his father were both safe with father just having a bleeding bruise on his leg. the kid was in trauma not even crying but was safe . The crowd gathered but seeing family with me they asked me to leave (I had asked to help them and call ambulance ) so did I. The kid was saved miraculously

Once a New corolla (with family inside) hit right fender of my beloved car quite new at that time and tried to flee but I stopped him and just asked him atleast to stop and make an apology. Was a young guy with his parents in the car. I had to replace the fender (shukr ha insurance thi)

I think, major reason of some above mentioned accidents is sudden coming from the link road to the main road, without stopping, and also not stop to look left and right for any signs of traffic.

Like the Mianwali-Lahore road incident which I had mentioned above, the biker did not stop while entering from the link road to the main road for even a second. He did not apply brakes, or looked left / right.

Might have self-assumed that at this late night time, which traffic might be coming?

I think, its also a rule, that when entering from link road to the main road, the right of way belongs to the commuters on main road.

The one(s) on link road must stop, and look left / right for any coming traffic.

When road is clear, only then they should enter on the main road.

Whether they are pedestrians or bikers or majority of car owners as well the are looking on the opposite side of the road from where no traffic is coming. Usually on Bund road portion of Ring Road Lahore I have seen many people looking at the other side of road and crossing.. Not using pedestrian bridge is another big problem . The pedestrian bridges made by so much money are mostly used for tamasha from above
