And based on my accident (bike with small child) mentioned above, I have learned some lessons, which I would like to share, and also urge others to follow it:

When you are travelling on any car, bike, etc. and you see children on either side of the road, or may be on the altogether other edge of the other side; immeditaley slow down and anticipate prior as to what these children might do?

Even when its your right of way, but if you see children / family, etc. standing on the road, and willing to cross, immeditaly slow down, as you may never know what those children can do.

It would be best, if you let go of your right of way (but do not jeopardize right of way of traffic behind you), show courtesy, stop, and let the children pass. In this way, it could be a win-win situation.

Ye jahalat yahan twin cities mein b hai.

There are some pedestrian and bikers bridges here (for commuters to cross, and go in opposite direction), but I rarely see people making full use of them.

Bikers shayed phir use kar lein, pedestrians don't.

I think, most obvious reason for them is; waqt zayada lagg jata hai.

Jald baazi mein GOD Forbid accident ho jye, it does not matter, and they don't care about it.

There is a pedestrian bridge near Pindora Chuungi, Saidpur Road, IJP Road (people from twin cities may be well aware of it).

In peak rush hours, like morning / noon, tamasha laga hota hai, as none uses that bridge.

All are in hurry, pedestrians not using bridge and crossing below it. Bikers coming from any direction, etc. making traffic on road quite difficult and slowing down, like reeng reeng k chalna...

Then current IJP road is in miserable condition, pot holes every now and then, it further slows down.

And this happens at various other places too.

I think, we deserve leaders like China, otherwise, I don't think k hum min-haisul-qaum sudhar saktay hain...

Before stopping for pedestrians to cross it is also equally important to look behind your car, i've had a close call when the car in front of me suddenly stopped to let a family cross the road, thank god I always try to maintain a decent distance from cars in front. car stopped inches away from his back bumper and no one was immediately behind me so got saved from that end as well.

being a driver you need to have 4 eyes ..helped by the car/bike producers in shape of side and back view mirrors...but unfortunately most of bikers remove the mirrors or dont even fit them on the first day of purchase

This would be you disrupting traffic which is an offense. There are crossings everywhere, zebra crossings, underpass, overpass but pedestrians don't bother, these people don't deserve curtousy, especially since their idiocity causes so many crashes and they just flee the scene like it wasn't their fault

In Saudia, aap sarak ke jis bhi konay se road cross kr lein, they would stop the car and give you way.
First person would stop the car and turn on double indicators and the whole line follow to alert the people behind.

I have already mentioned in one of my posts above:

do not jeopardize right of way of traffic behind you

If I have to do any such thing, I first of all look in the rear mirror, then side mirrors, so that if any traffic is coming from the back or not, and only then stop, if none is there, or when absolutely necessary and urgent (in that case, I start double indicators).

Traffic behind me has its right of way, and my courtesy should never prove inconvenience to him, or anyone else.

May be, traffic coming behind me do not know / see, what I am seeing, and they are coming at their own pace. Now if I will aplly brakes, they might hit me from the back.

Usually, jo peechay sey hit karta hai, and does not keep / maintain min. and safe braking distance, then galti usski hoti hai. But in this particular case, GOD Forbid, if anything hits my car from the back, galti meri ho gee, and I'll have to bear the repair expenses of mine, as well as the other vehicle, or any that follow.

YES. Totally agreed, and have already shared my point of view on a similar post above.

First of all, we usually do not have that much crossing points, as are available in developed countries.

We even do not have footpaths at most locations.

Then, when they are there, people do not use them, and try short cuts.

I do not know about other cities, countries, however, being eye witness in Shanghai and Beijing, I have observed that on almost every road, footpaths and crossings are there, and they even have signals for pedestrians, and you only cross when your signal is Green.

If you cross when signal is RED, and get caught, the traffic police sergeant immediately make challan of you.

However, when there are such crossings where no signal is there, the moment you step foot on the crossing, any / all sort of traffic immediatly stops, and let the pedestrains cross, especially when children / ladies are there.

Hum Chinese ko jitna b bura bhala kahein, but being eyewitness, and trust me, kuj cheezo'on mein China humsay bohat bohat aagay hai.

China's traffic is absolutely relaxing
Everyone stays in their own lane, follows the law and are afraid of the cops. Every once in a while one can see an excited driver driving a bit crudely but even that's still better than how Pakistanis drive.

I have been in China and I agree
I have live in South Africa and UAE
My whole family live in USA and spent decades in UK...
So based on international experience I will say
1.. traffic laws are not taught before getting licence so every one think he is rite and he can do any thing and result is loss of life
2.. internationally if u enter main road or high way from small road u have to stop to standstill and give way to on going traffic s no one knows this so problem is what was discussed above
3. Police is there to make extra money and they sell themselves at the cost of all this

Main issues are lack of JUSTICE...I will again say LACK OF JUSTICE... law is there but jab faislay INSAAF kay saath na hoon to kuch bi nahi hota masawaiy Tabahi ke...

Also very important when merging onto a highway/main road. You are supposed to accelerate quickly to attain cruising speed so that the cars dont pile up behind you.

Can get a ticket for slow accleration.

Who will teach this to the Al Bakistani monkeys? They enter the highway without warning and then take ages to gain speed.
