hand brake is progressive. I have used it where you can apply it untill the tyre start getting locked so you know when to leave it and how much to pull. but in this button wali hand brake it will just engage with full force locking the wheels thus causing the car to go sideways and flip if driver is not expert and quick to counter steer.

I feel some modern gadgets in cars are just fancy gimmicks like e-brakes, touchscreen ventilation and audio video controls, digital game like speedometers etc. Some things are fine as they are and do not need drastic changes.

I have no experience but isn't there any override to stop ebrake from engaging if it's accidently pressed at high speeds. Did this guy press the brake padel or the ebrake, he is not clear in his message. The condition of the car says he was going way above 120.

I too have no experience but I think I saw some video on YouTube where a woman pushed the e-brake button while driving at high speed and totalled the car. Seems there is no override or safety to prevent engaging of e-brake at high speeds. Will try to find the video.

Ebrake doesn’t even gets engaged when car is running. He is making up weird stories only. Ebrake is very smartly handled by ecu and is is being used worldwide

Pressing brake hold at any speed makes no effect at all. I recent tried it on my Sportage at lower speeds. It only activates when the car is absolutely still and foot is on the pedal

electronic hand brake will do absolutely nothing if the vehicle is at speed. it would just make an alarm sound, it will NOT engage,
if the ebrake engages, than its a faulty speed sensor, or wrong programming of the ecu.

I tried both e brake and hold. Hold does not work on a moving car, e brake does however. It jolts the car to a very harsh stop. I tried this on a Honda.

I also tried e brake at 10 on my A3 and the rear locked and for a mili second then let go and all kinds of warnings poped up on the dash (pre sense fault, stability off, abs... The full Christmas tree). It cleared up after 30 seconds. I didn't have brake hold in mine so couldn't try that. Felt all sorts of wrong but I did it for science.

Maybe owner was aiming for brake hold but hit e-brake instead. If the tires lock at 120, momentum can indeed do that to a car. Also saw a top gear video on YouTube where they try it on a golf at 120, it slowly comes to a stop.

E- brake does the functioning . I have experienced it on low speeds and it is not a good feeling at all. As my son accidently pulled it while car was at 10 .

In this case, it is either cruise control malfunction as has been reported for other vehicles internationally OR he pressed e-brake . Since it skidded and then toppled, so it seems that e-brake might be the issue. He also mentioned it in his statement

Nope. You cannot counter the governing forces at that speed if rear tires lockup. Even the tiniest traction difference between both rear tires will turn the car to other side. If speed is high enough, the momentum will carry over and car will topple. No human can correct it at high speeds.

But yes, the driver definitely did something stupid to trigger the accident. I can guarantee he was way above the speed limit.
