Advice for Road Trip to Deosai and Skardu - September 8th till 20th of September 2017

Hello Travel Gurus, I am leaving for Deosai This Saturday from Lahore so I want to confirm a couple of things. I have been to Hunza, Fairy Meadows, Khunjerab a couple of times before on my own car but have not been to Skardu and Deosai.

1 - Is Babusar top opened in September as it is a short cut to Chilas?

2 - I have 12 days and a budget of Rs 60,000.Is that enough for me and my wife?

3 - I have a 1.3 Corolla Gli. Is it powerful enough to endure the Deosai and Skardu?

4 - Where should I break my journey Towards Deosai for rest?

5 - What is the most suitable route to Deosai? Should I first go to Skardu and then to Deosai via Skardu or go to Deosai via Astore first and then Skardu and how?

6 - What places are a "must visit"?

hi very good brief questions asked by you, i am not expert but i m giving my views:
1. most probably it will be open but its better to check with some hotel in Mansehra/Naran or any drivers coming/going to Chillas.
2. it depends where do you stay bcoz thats the most expensive part of trip, if you can save money from hotel stays i think you will be ok and see if you can take some stove and cooking items with you to cook food yourself as you will be with wife so its doable and will save money but keep some reserve for emergency.
3. i think you can go to Skardu via Alam chowk (not Astore road) on this car but drive carefully.
4. it depends what time you start from Lahore and how much you can drive, best will be to stay a night in abbottabad or Mansehra, then Naran or Chillas (depends where you stopped last night) and then in Skardu.
5 - i suggest go to Skardu first, make it your base and use jeep to go to Deosai and other areas
6 - Shangrilla lake, upper Kachura lake, Katpana Desert Sarfa Rangah, Shigar Valley Shigar fort,Khaplu, Sadpara lake, Sheosar lake, Manthoka water fall and many more place around Skardu

So, you have Skardu and Deosai in your plan for the trip. My advises are:
1. Babusartop will remain open till snow falls providing that no heavy landslide has been occurred . You can confirm from any hotel in Naran before heading towards Naran. This will save your time. You can break your journey from Lahore at Naran.

1. I would suggest to have at least 100K with you as a budget.

2. Corolla can go but my advise will be to take Jeep from Skardu / Astore for Deosai.

3. Route from Astore is better than from Skardu towards deosai. As you have to climb on a narrow jeep track from Skardu to Deosai.

4. You must visit Shangrilla Resort Skardu, PTDC Rama and Rama Lake, Khaplu from Skardu, Upper Kachura Lake Skardu, Sheosar Lake Deosai, Bara Pani Deosai.
