Seeking Advice on Buying a Used Toyota Hilux

Hello everyone,

I’ve been driving a Toyota Yaris 2022 and have always bought new cars due to the peace of mind that comes with minimal visits to the mechanic. However, my dream car is the Toyota Hilux, and I’m considering purchasing a used one as a new model is out of my budget. I can arrange up to 6 million PKR, but I’m a bit apprehensive about the potential maintenance issues with a pre-owned vehicle.

1. Reliability of a Used Hilux: For those who have experience with a used Toyota Hilux, how has the reliability been? How often do you find yourself visiting the mechanic?
2. Model Year Recommendations: With a 6 million PKR budget, which model years should I be looking at to balance between price and reliability?

6 million u wont find the well maintain hilux for sure.! well maintain at least u need 8 mil

back in 2022 when i bought the my first brand new car.. at that time brand new hilux was around 75 80

2018 2017 model u will find out in that range.. like 80 million

if u search pakwheels or olx u will find out.. forget about asking price.. u can negotiate .. hilux resale is now a days is slow so well

Hilux is a machine for long life. Find a clean peace. You can find good condition 2013-15 in this price and it will be without any major issue

my 2 cents

1. A reliable vehicle if you find a clean one and get a thorough pre purchase inspection from an SUV specialist workshop. Finding a clean, issue free ride will take time and patience. Will not come close to the peace of mind of a Yaris.
2. Should easily get a 2014-2015 clean vehicle. Pakwheels and Olx demands are usually overstated. Since its a used hilux, the condition on the vehicle will be more important than the model year.
3. History of usage is what matters the most, farm, guard, election or home used vehicle. Turbo and engine is the most important area. Dont buy without a pre purchase inspection from SUV specialist.
4. Unfortunately, difficult to recommend any
5. Prado 2006+ & Surf 2006+ - these would be decade older than the Hilux. Test drive one and compare to Hilux.

Test drive a few vehicles before finalizing one.
Rear cabin and rear suspension are an issue.
It will be a decade old aging vehicle and will require attention.
