Advice needed regarding Honda City 2016 Oil Changes

AOA,

I have a Honda City 2016 model. Since day one, I have been getting the car oil changed from an authorized Honda dealership and using the the genuine Honda Engline oil.

I am not 100% sure, but the I beliege it is a semi-synthetic oil which I think is 10W-40. I could be wrong, but I think those are the specs.

I am not sure if the engine requires 3 liters or 4 liters. I have the base model of Honda City 2016.

My question is that I don't want to take the car to Honda dealership everytime i need to get car oil changed, so can someone suggest to me a compatible oil type that I can use so I can get the oil changed from my local petrol station.

Any advice and suggestions would be very much welcomed.

You need 3.7L oil same as packaging

You can order Honda Oil and Oil filter from Honda Website (COD Delivery) and get it changed anywhere you like

The recommended oil for Honda City is 5-W30 fully synthetic. Its a small sump, one should not exceed 8k drain interval with oil filter at every oil change (if oem) and at 5k if any other regular oil filter is used.

Recommended oil is 5-W30, it is an established fact. Upto is another debate. Too long interval periods are not recommended for small sump engines.

I know about the range, I have this car and its user manual as well. It also states that 15-W40 can be used. But that is about upto. Optimum oil as per price vs performance in my humble opinion is 5-W30.

The grade must be mentioned on the box of engine oil. You can confirm grade being used from there.

Honda uses total lubricants...you may get it changed from total

Thank you for all the responses. I managed to find the image of the plastic can of the original Honda Engine oil. It is 5W-30 fully synthetic. See image in link.

This is what they use at the Honda Authorized dealerships/3s service centers.

My mileage is very low. Since last oil change 6 months ago, I have only driven the car 150km.

The service manual says to replace at 3 months or 5000km (i think) whichever comes first. I am already up to 6 months, so I feel it is time to get it changed ASAP.

If I can find this Honda Englne oil at my local petrol stations, then that is best, but if not, what brand of 5w-30 fully synthetic is best in my situation?

My car is of Mar 2016, with a total mileage of 29,000km.

try to use Honda genuine parts though costly but long lasting
engine oil SAE 5W30 SM fully synthetic
3.7 liters with oil filter 5k kms
3.5 liters without oil filter 10k kms

I dont think you can find this at petrol stations. But plenty of oil shops around that sell a variety of oils including honda packed one. Mention your area and someone could help with a nearby shop.

Ultimately, I ended up taking the car to Honda 3S service center so I could get Honda genuine oil and oil filter.

The oil they used is fully synthetic 5W-30. See attached picture.

I was able to see this same oil at our local petrol station as well, so in the future, if available, I will go there, if not, I can go to the Honda Service Center as usual.

I experimented by switching between 5w 30 honda oil and 5w 30 havoline & 5w 40 havoline oils..

the 5w30 honda oil is of inferior quality as compared with havoline oils first i used 5w 40havoline(caz 5w 30havoline not avail in my area) and i clearly noticed the engine sound was more smoother and the flow of 5w 40 was more fluid as compared with the flow of honda oil when pouring. and than i tried 5w 30 havoline and i am happier than ever and the grade of havoline oil is higher than honda oil though its expensive than honda oil

Any marked diff bw 5w40 and 5w30? I used Honda genuine bakwas till 20k shifted to havoline 5w40. Now the car is driven 16000km on 5w40. Is it worth it to shift to w30?

I am using 5w 30 grade havoline bcaz this is the grade recommended by honda and i think it is better than 5w40 grade just my opinion and i think there must be some reason that they are recommending 5w30 which i think is higher in viscosity as compared with 5w 40...

so i think your vehicle is new andt low mileage should be using recommended grade which is 5w 30

5W30 and 5W40 has the same viscosity, first is recommended for ambient temperature of 30C and the second for 40C. Both should perform the same but the second should last longer and usually it is a bit more expensive. You can get away with longer change intervals on the 5W40 and it will not degrade as fast in summer, our ambient temperature reaches 38-40C so it would be best to use 5w40, Mobil Liqui Moly ZicX9 are far superior than honda genuine oil, but for local/personal use i think regular stuff is also fine.
