Advice Needed: Selling My City 2019 for a Hybrid

Hello PakWheelers,

I currently own a Honda City 2019, which is in 10/10 condition and has been driven 40,000 km. Its market value is around 36 lakh. I’m considering selling it and switching to a hybrid vehicle due to the rising fuel prices. The hybrid would be for all-purpose use, including long drives and city commutes.

Here are a few points I’d like your advice and experiences on:
1. Budget: I am not willing to add extra money beyond the worth of my City.
2. Preference: Looking for a spacious and reliable car, so Aqua is not an option for me.
3. Pros & Cons: What advantages and disadvantages should I consider when switching to a hybrid?
4. Recommendations: Which hybrid models would you recommend that fit my requirements?

If you want a reliable and spacious hybrid, then just close your eyes and go for Prius. But in 36 Lakh you will not get a good piece. You may barely get a good 2010 prius.

Switching to an old model hybrid is a bad idea. Specially for fuel saving reasons because you won’t save anything, rather will spend a lot more on it.

Why?
You cannot buy a good condition hybrid/Prius in 36 lakh.

It will be very old, used and abused (2007-2012 max). It will have a dying battery and ABS unit (likely already replaced with used units) and it will fail again in some time.

Suppose even if you manage to buy an ancient Prius in 36 lakh, will have to spend 3-5 lakh repeatedly on its maintenance and fixing its parts/ABS/batteries.

Any fuel savings you make will be offset by the high buying price and extra expenses on replacing its failing parts.

Anything older than a 2018-19 Prius will have its parts failing. And you cannot buy a 2015-2019 Prius in 36 lakhs at all.

Older models will give you lots of trouble. Not only for Prius but other hybrids too.

Exactly. He needs to go for Prius 2012 atleast and it should be a 4.5 grade auction. But most likely he will need to spend 4 to 5 lakhs on it.

Assalamualaikum brother, I would say everybody have there own opinion,
But my advice is go for a 2010-2015 model prius, All you have to do is get its battery, Abs and airbags checked properly and professionally and you're good to go!!
Also you can find a good vehicle in 3.5 to 3.6 mill , I saw a black Prius G touring in 36 lacs no work req originally driven 86k on the clock and guess what that dude self imported it so no doubt of use and abuse!! You just have to look for a right deal thats it.
I have a prius 2010 giving me 25 kmpl in city and the car drives better then most pakistani local assembled craps literally! got its battery replaced with refurbished one with 3 years of warranty!

And his pocket will keep crying. Lakh and lakhs to be spent on ABS, battery replacements.

Not a game I would suggest anyone to play. Unless they like to experiment throwing their money away on risky items.
