Advice on brake oil, gear oil

In the last 10 years and ~250,000 KMs my car hasn't had a brake oil change (yikes!)

Im gonna change brake oil, flush it all out, get the front caliper pistons cleaned and oiled, and do something (??) about the warped rear drums.

Im also gonna get the gear oil changed too.

So i need recommendations for

1. which brake oil to use, which gear oil to use.
2. who does these works reliably in islamabad or rawalpindi?
3. what to do about warped rear drums (short of replacement).
4. any specific things i should be careful about, any precautions or warnings?

Car in question is an indus corolla 95 with a recently transplanted 5afe.

Because if you're experiencing braking issues at the rear it could be that one of the slave cylinders are faulty? Replace both if needed. If drums are warped, replace them, they're not fixable.
4. any specific things i should be careful about, any precautions or warnings? - While you're at it, clean the brake shoe/pad dust! check rubber brake lines and replace if necessary. Clean, clean and clean!... good luck.

DOT 3 or DOT 4 oil. which is better? they're both basically the same sorta oil. DOT 4 has a higher boiling point so im thinking it must be better.

total or ZIC gear oils are available in API-GL4 75W90 spec - perfect for your car, the brake fluids are available as DOT4 too, fully flush the brake fluid, its a long process by pump and bleed method but very worth it.

okay. so far i get that i should get total/ zic gear oil. finding their genuine oils would be the real deal...

zulfiqar bhai i would like to ask, is there any specific benefit if i use dot 4 instead of the usual dot 3? or any possible drawbacks?

preferably i would like some coloured brake oil such as those available abroad so that i can differentiate when the old is out and the new oil has filled in. any available?

I would suggest you to go for the Toyota's company manufactured brake oil available at any Toyota lubricant dealer near your area. The Oil comes in Dot3 and Dot 4. Dot $ has a high melting point but you don't need to worry about that as your location of residence is ISB/RWP so not to worry about the melting point. Get the old oil flushed and replace if the lining is somehow damaged or faulty. get the rubber pipes changed for good. The rear drums would not be a thing to worry if you experience poor braking at the rear then get them replaced for the new ones. They are not that expensive.

i had the car for last 10 years. status quo was a real problem.

two days ago i did the diy to change brake oil, encountered many many problems starting from removing the wheel lugs, broke two spanners there...

new oil seems to be working really well mashallah. i can feel that braking is now more responsive...

i ended up using seiken dot 3 oil, couldnt fine dot 4 with aftermarket retailers and couldnt be bothered to go to toyota reps.lol

the rear drum which was kinda deformed, i cleverly found out the deformation point, used my weight-training equipment and removed the deformity, now i can feel the rear braking much more and evenly too. braking has improved immensely.

I have suzuki Liana and dot 3 brake oil is recommeneded for this car. I need little help reagarding topping up the oil as i have noticed that the current level is at min. Kindly suggest is it safe to just top up the oil or do i need to take all the oil out and fill in again the whole. i also need to know there are 2 bottles of oil in Liana, why is that so ?

Usually brake fluid do'nt required top up regularly in maximum cases when Brake shoes or Disc pad got worn out then Brake calipers has to expand more and they take brake fluid more in there pistons so i suggest make the inspection of Brake disc pads and brake shoes .
Secondly it is better to drain the Brake fluid and refill it with any same Brand but if you need a little quantity to top up then use same brake fluid brand and grade other wise it you do'nt know the brand then top up with good quality brake fluid and in the last 2 bottles are there one for Brake fluid and other for Hydraulic Clutch reservoir

So I still haven't changed the gear oil...ya ya i know. Been lazy!

Gears give bad whiney noise (low-to-increasing pitch) in 1st/2nd while accelerating or slowing down. So thinking to get GL-4 gear oil.

Which viscosity to go for?
75w-85
75w-90
80w-90

Any precautions to take while changing gear oil? Any special steps to keep in mind? Is there any sort of a flush for a mucky gear box?

yes one piece of advice,

remove the fill plug first from the transmission, if you drain all the oil out and the fill plug is rounded or wont come off - YOU ARE SCREWED
