Have been following this thread, keenly.
I've driven a Series 90 TLC (Prado) for about 2 years, and it's a fairly capable vehicle, both on and off the road. So, a good Prado (and from what I see and hear, Asad Saab's Prado IS a good one) should be an asset.
At the same time, though, I've always been very impressed with the brute good looks and performance specs of the Series 80 and Series 100 TLCs, although I've never had a chance to sit behind the steering wheel of either, so my opinion pertaining to them isn't really a very informed one.
Asad Bhai...What I DO believe in, however, is that if you have the resources (money), the will, and the sheer desire to switch from Series 90 to Series 80/100, go ahead and do so, by all means. It's not that the Prado isn't a good vehicle. It's just that the 80/100 Land Cruiser is a BETTER vehicle, because it's the one you WANT. Sure...we can enter into a discussion on gearing, ride height, suspension, engine specs, styling, blah blah blah...but in your heart, the decision is already made, I think. And as I said earlier...if you can afford it...go ahead and take the plunge. You won't regret the choice.
Our sport is fuelled by pure, unbridled passion, and is propelled by a relative absence of logic. I mean...after spending millions of rupees on these beasts, we GRIND them into dirt and stone and tarmac...yes? Yeh kahaan ki aqalmandi hai?
