Advice required about Suzuki Baleno

One of my cousin has recently shifted from karachi to Rawalpindi, and he wants to buy a car. He is interested in buying Baleno and his budget is 7lakhs maximum, but some people are saying that donot buy this car, it is very problematic, gives patakhas and they donot service or get their car washed it causes trouble, please baleno owners respond.

i had baleno 2001 and kept it for 3.5 yrs,
and now i have baleno 2005 from an year or so...
its a very good car, but yeah it requires more care n maintenance, ( i dont have experience of toyotas n hondas)

and if you wash any EFi car's engine, it will give you trouble, cz cars sensors get wet n show wrong readings or get permanently damaged.

if u take proper care of the plugs, clean them on time, coil cable rubber is not broken etc. and do proper tuning, then there is no issue of patakhas.

I kept Baleno in excellent condition but i must say Honda and Toyota cars are way better than Baleno.
baleno needs maintenance and its spare parts are as expensive as Honda civic.

If you have a budget of 7lac then i will advise you to buy honda city 2003-2005 which is easily available in karachi so why does not he buy it here from karachi and take to pindi
I sold my Karachi no baleno to a guy who took it to islamabad coz in isb cars are expensive as compared to karachi.
My car baleno JXL 2004 sold in 552000 in Nov-12

the patakha might be sound tht comes from the engine when the air filter cover opens due to pressure...keep the air filter clean and the car properly tuned and it wont happen...otherwise u can always go for the desi jugaarh by intalling a clamp and a nut

nd oh i forgot to mention...its an awesome car...brakes are disappointing so u might need to install better tires

and try not to buy a pre 2004 model because some of them have manufacturing faults with the timing belts :S...they changed it to timing chain in the later models so get ur hands on those and enjoy

agree leave baleno ur budget is handsome try to increase it by max 50 k n u can buy a decent 06 liana (way better compared to baleno) n city 03 04 idsi better than both

An excellent car.

I kept a Baleno 1999 Glip for 4 years and apart from normal maintenance I never had any issue, although I traveled to Isb and back many times.

I sold it 4 months back for 500,000/-, which reflects its condition.

In this budget only 2 cars would be the best choice:

1. City 2001 - 02
2. Baleno

^^Baleno we had was 2002 and by our luck it had a problem of crank shaft pulley which broke somehow after changing of timing belt from mini motors and had to replace it..and as per the mechanic of mini motor that problem occurs in 1/1000 cars and was fixed in 2004 face lift as they shifted to timing chain...so i haven't opened up the engine of face lifted baleno but that was told by mini motors mechanic so it must be authentic..!

Well although not a toyota, Baleno is a grown up car suzuki made. It also may have th factory cng installed. If movibg to islamabad for a limited duration exoect a slow resell.

Only 1.8 version has timing chain instead of timing belt,This version is very rare in Pakistan.
