Advice required on Oshan X-7 Future Sense

Hello All

I am thinking of changing my car in a couple of months (just that I will complete 5 years with it next year, and there are no complaints). I currently have a Toyota Prius Alpha (2018/ 2020), and before that I've had previous trim of Prius Alpha, Toyota Fielder, 2004 Toyota Surf and 80 Series Toyota LC. So my first preference would have been an import.

But with imported car prices going off the roof, am looking around for a reasonable option locally. With SUVs storming the market, I have somehow liked Oshan X7 Future Sense more than others. However, I am skeptical about the reliability. Features wise it will not make me miss the Prius Alpha, and let's say fuel consumption is not an issue as well. But being a frequent traveler across the country (200k KMs done on Prius in 4.5 years), no one as of now has confidently told me to go for Oshan and you can take it to wherever without thinking of anything.

Would appreciate if someone comments on the reliability of Oshan. I would keep the car for 3-4 years before switching to a newer one.

Else in this budget I would get a 2004-05 Prado which i know for sure doesn't die..

Hi. I found myself in almost the same boat as yours. I had gone from a '99 Vitz to a 2010 Vitz to a Civic Rebirth that I clocked 200K KMs with. Since my purchase decision came at a time when Oshan had just been launched in the market; I opted for a Hyundai Tucson and have since done almost 100K KMs with it without any issues whatsoever. The car has been driven across all sorts of terrain. If I were to make that decision again today, I would probably go for an Oshan. Not because I have any issues with the Tucson but because I have several friends who own an Oshan and have done almost 100K KMs without any niggles. The new facelift makes it even more tempting.

I know it will probably never have the same level of indestructible-ness as a Prado but it is without doubt a solid car! I guess it all comes down to what you intend on doing with the car and the sort of abuse you throw at it.

This is encouraging, Abdullah Sb. I actually am a typical light-foot city user in Karachi who likes to keep his car well maintained and well driven, but do love to take road trips (solo as well as with family) frequently. At times a 3 days weekend is enough for me to have a round trip to Abbottabad just for the love of chapli kababs :).. All the cars I mentioned above allowed me to just wake up, wash my face and hit the road mid of the night. I am inclined towards Oshan, just don't want to be in a situation where I am standing roadside with hood open and no idea of what to do..

Happy to hear from a fellow petrol head who finds joy in driving. If I were in your shoes, I'd get the Oshan. It'd be a new car with some great features. Plus, I've heard good things about the dealership network. Get a test drive with your family and see what they have to say.

If you are only keeping the car for up to 4 years I do not think there should be anything you would have to worry about mechanically. If kept for longer I think these questions would be more important. The only REAL complaint I've heard from it are the headlight performance while driving at night. Nitpicky ones would be the lack of some ADAS options (I believe no lane keep assist). I have not driven it but the car has impressed me when I see others speeding with it and seeing other peoples consumption figures. The car really is a complete package

I have heard of the headlamps, but some say they have improved in the latest facelift. But nonetheless, that should not be a deal breaker. Appreciate your feedback.

I am linking a couple of my responses from another thread. You probably are aware of the features. I think X7 is best value for money for its price bracket compared to any other similar 7 seat vehicle.
But the headlamps are subpar. Night driving on motorways can be a very irritating experience. But adaptive cruise control works really well. If 7 seats are not a requirement then you should also consider Jolion which is smaller but is more feature-packed and has a better interior in my view.

Salam I have written about this before but here are my few cents, I have a friend who bought an Oshan X7 (pre facelift) back in march this year and his younger brother has a Jolion. I have driven both vehicles extensively. The facelift version comes with different set of alloys, some cosmetic changes to the front grill, interior changes include new trim colour, improvements to the infotainment system (bigger screen and android auto) and very important update which is provision of grab hand…

We took the Oshan to Astore and Minimarg in July and so overall I only had one issue with the vehicle which was the headlamp throw. I just feel the throw is subpar and really bad. That’s ok in city driving but I wasn’t so comfortable during night time driving. Also, please keep in mind this is not a proper SUV like the Revo, Prado or Fortuner and so one should not throw it around on bumpy and broken roads or tracks in hilly areas. Joilion has a better interior and definitely has more premium …
