AE100 1994 Steering Rack Leakage

Dear Members.

I have AE100 Japanese 1498cc (1994 Model). I am facing steering box leakage problem from last 3 years. I have repaired it twice and then installed new Kabuli Steering box @ Rs. 12,000/- But after one year it is again leaking.
Kindly guide:
i. Why it is leaking (I mean what causes its leak).
ii. Can Corolla X steering box be installed in it. (Someone told me that it is fixed).

Why don’t you install electronic power steering(eps) in your car.

Mostly these old steering racks leak because of being used too much and seals have given up. Best is to find someone who can replace its seals its not a big job.

Thank you Rajaahmed96. Yes you are right. But i want to get rid of it. Someone advised me to installed EPS Electronic Power steering system. Can it be installed ? I mean did you have any experience of it.

Dear Mr. Rehan,

i also have 1998 corolla with leaking steering . I have talked with 2 mechanics (owners ) and they say that changing seals will not help as it will again leak in 1-2 months at most . so best bet is to replace the steering system with a kabli one and again the risk remains.

So i am just topping the power steering fluid and i check it once a week for topping.

I am not ready to replace the steering with a kabli one

I think eps is better option as it came in jdm corolla SeG and doesn't have leakage problem.I have replaced seals but they leaked after two months.
