After 2 years, need your suggestions again regarding 4x4 purchase

It depends upon your requirements, if you have small family you can consider Revo or D-Max but if you want a 7 seater as per your family requirements than you have to consider Prado or Landcruiser.

If you want to go for new one than Kia Sportage is also a good option in your budget, take its test drive, you can owners reviews as well as there is dedicated thread on Pakwheels.

However Prado 2.7 with 2TR engine is bit underpower, go for LC100 with 1HD-FTE and you will love it, try to find a clean 2003+ model with new interior and 5 speed gearbox and you will be amazed.

Hmm.. Finding really good mechanics in Multan would also be difficult.. Will have to ask around... But spending vacation in workshops is also not fun.
What about after market suspension? Apart from increasing height, will it improve ride quality by much? Any experiences with that?

I have 2in Ironman lift kit with foam cell shocks already installed by the previous owner so I cant compare it with stock suspension.

Prado 3.4/4.0 is a good option but too heavy on fuel, consider 5 in city and 7 on motorway.

Try LC100 2003+ with 1HD-FTE and you will be surprised by its fuel average, it gives 7-8 in city and 10-11 on motorway.

I have got a 97 LC80 with 1HD-FT aka multi-valve diesel engine and I am getting 8.5+ km/l in city and 10 @ 100km/h, its a manual.

Welcome to the club once you get addicted to SUVs you cant stay without it.

If you are considering 3.4/4.0 Prado TZ it has selectable suspension from soft to hard, you don't need to worry about its comfort. Same is true for LC100. You need to install lift kit if you are fond of offroading or want to fit bigger tyres otherwise stock is good if its working properly.

Yes definitely. Increasing height and putting bigger tires destabilize the vehicle. Then upgrading the suspension brings back everything. Go for the best ones though (oldman, ARB etc... shocks, springs, etc alongwith the steering damper).

First and foremost. Ironman,ARB, TJM etc will NOT be more comfortable than a stock suspension. I drove my LC80 for 2.5 years with stock suspension and then installed brand new Ironman comfort series suspension. No way is Ironman more comfortable than stock. In case of Revo it will improve the stance and height but without load the Revo will become more stiff. I am not speaking from gut instinct I am speaking from experience

After market suspensions for 4x4 vehicles are usually for more load, higher stance (means more flex) and more sturdy than a stock suspension. When we went to Kirthar National Park last year my car carried the most load and then the "suspension gave maza". Without load, just cross a speadbreaker and then tell me whether the shocks recoiled? You wont even feel the shocks recoil...

If you want to roam trouble free like a Seth, go for Revo (yes uncomfortable). Then go for a Cygnus (wah, full mahaul) and last go for a parado. Remember one thing for the last 2 options, good pieces are very rare but not extinct. A well maintained Cygnus will give you the pleasure even a new local assembled would fail to give. But if you buy the wrong piece, you my Sir will curse the day you thought of getting a jeep...

I went through a similar situation an year ago and after careful analysis I made the perfect choice.

If you want a reliable SUV go for a Prado TZ G 4000cc version. Comes with leather seats, cruise control, heated seats and all those extras that you can count. It has the best fuel consumption in SUV category. Comes with air suspension, very reliable for long trips. The drive is amazing, a fortuner or a Revo doesn’t come closer when compared.

Living in Pakistani you have to to deal with narrow roads, a Cygnus is pain in the ass when it comes to manoeuvrability in rush hours or in most urbanised localities. Plus it’s very heavy on fuel when compared to a 4.0 prado.

We own two of these 4.0’s and we love them more each day.

Not true.
My uncle owns a Prado 2010.
Same 4000cc TZ G.
In same conditions this Prado gives 7-8km/l while a land cruiser 4200cc 1hd-fte will give 8-9km/l.
Land cruiser cygnus 4.7L 2uz-fe will have same fuel consumption of pardo.
