Is there a low cost air purifier option available? Saw this filter on YouTube https://youtu.be/kH5APw_SLUU but not sure if we have these available here in Karachi.

Any alternatives which are not expensive?

I'm using Xiaomi Mi air purifier 2s for 55m3 room
Cadr, 310m3
Works well
In case of DIY purifier, Cadr is usually low, resulting in poor performance, yes considering value for money it is ok
What's your room size btw?
For Diy, you can buy fan, then filters are available for beurer air purifiers, you can buy one from daraz beurer official store
Just fix both using tape or whatever you have

Thanks bro. Where you bought the xiaomi filter from and is it any good, like how do you know that air quality has improved... Am thinking of buying an air quality monitor first to see how is the situation at home... Since airvisual application shows that Karachi aur quality is not good...

There are beurer filters available locally as well but prices are quite high...

Alternative options are to use plants but not sure how many and which one would be better if it works at all as published on so many websites...

Let me tell u complete detail
I'm allergic rhinitis patient
Using anti histamines and nasal sprays for long time
But still medicines are not able to counter it
Finally I found the solution, air purifier
I bought air purifier from xiaomi store.pk
Xiaomi purifiers are available on both xiaomistore.pk and mistore.pk
Various models are available, major concern is CADR
You can choose accordingly

like how do you know that air quality has improved..

Mi Air purifier 2s, 3, pro and max model has laser particle sensor, it measures Pm 2.5 accurately and shows it on front display along with temperature humidity and current running mode

Am thinking of buying an air quality monitor first to see how is the situation at home.

Usually situation in home is same as outdoors, I've purifier for an year almost, pm 2.5 raises quickly even in closed room, buying air quality monitor will be waste of money I believe, invest that in a good purifier
Regarding beurer, I did research before
Philips haier and beurer purifiers are good, but expensive and don't offer much functionality as xiaomi, they don't even have pm 2.5 displays, they've only indicator lights
Also xiaomi purifiers offer mobile phone integration through Mi home app
I will prefer xiaomi air purifiers anytime
Regarding plants, they are useless as they've nothing to do with pm 2.5

I'm leaning more towards the Xiaomi 3H since it comes with the true HEPA class 13 filter vs EPA filter in the beurer lr200. Also the Xiaomi one has wifi and phone app for easy monitoring. However, my first preference would have been a filter that also had UV-C light along with HEPA 13 but I couldn't find any like that around 30k price.

Bro air purifier 3 available in Pakistan is imported from china, it has H11 hepa same as air purifier 2s , H13 filter only for indian market
Btw that's not a deal breaker for me
Even with this H11, pm 2.5 in my room is currently 1

1- simple one
2-anti bacterial
3-anti formaldehyde
All are available on xiaomistore

Bro, in Lahore, filter lasts for 3400-3500 running hours
You can calculate no of days based on daily running hours
Regarding cost
1- Simple filter costs 6200 (blue)
2- anti bacterial 4900 (purple)
3- anti formaldehyde 6500 (green)
(Price of antibacterial is not revised meanwhile prices of 1 and 3 were increased in past, expect increase in future, will cost same as others, 6-7K)
Both anti bacterial and anti formaldehyde are superior..

You can use any of these filters
My preference is anti bacterial
With new air purifier, simple one is shipped
Then I bought one simple and one antibacterial
I ordered another antibacterial yesterday
Hope will be delivered tomorrow
Usually I buy 1-2 filters in advance
In case they're out of stock, it will take 2-3 months, and these are not available anywhere in pak

Well i had a look at both websites and the air purifiers are out of stock. Btw which variant of Mi purifiers do you think is most cost effective as you said both 3H and 2S use same filters

Yes it has 3 modes
You can switch

I use manual and on full, 24/7
Because in noise vs health, my preference is health
I can bear noise
Even during sleep, it's on full
Whenever you turn on night mode, Pm 2.5 levels increase rapidly
To me, Pm 2.5 should be lowest as possible
Buying high cadr purifier then running it slow, this makes no sense

Secondly Regarding cost effectiveness, all are same approximately, I will prefer 3 or Pro in any case, when I purchased 2s, 3 was not launched, overall 3 is better than 2, it also has touch controls
3 and Pro offer better value for money currently
