The C-130 does not offer VTOL but it remains the biggest and the heaviest aircraft to have successfully landed on an air craft carrier; they nearly succeeded in making a ''super STOL'' version of it but. . . .
It can, however, land on rugged/makeshift runways. Also the operational legacy of this aircraft is perhaps not matched by any other military transporter of it's size. Its very modifiable too; the Israeli military was able to retrofit a night landing system in 24 hours for the 'Entebbe Raid'. But yes, the superior maneuverability of the v-22 makes it supersede the c-130 in tactical usability.
