AJK Trip Advice, Neelum or Rawalakot

Dear experts, need advice on a family trip of 5-6 days in 1st week July. Planning to use my Cuore 2005.

First of all, is it ok weather wise in 1st week of July or should I delay it.

Secondly, which of following is advisable,

Neelum valley--> Kutton, karen, Sharda, Kel, Toubat

OR

Rawalakot-->Banjosa, Toli Pir, Lasdana, Mahmood Gali

Is there any hotel/rest house at Toli Pir?

How about road from Toli Pir to Lasdana? Is it ok for car? How much traveling time?

Advice on hotels in Lasdana? Any info about Mahmood Gali?

route ka tu koi masla nao hai just rain alert rehna.. neelum valley may avoid karna chhiay in rains... if u have margin u shud come after eid

I would say neelum valley.

Dun even think of going there without prior bookings in AJK guest houses at keran n ( or valley trackers guest house, they both r side by side)..it's very very hard to get a room on the day of arrival without bookings.

U can easily go uptil keran on coure.
overall food n living places in neelum valley aren't very good for families,best options are the AJK guest houses,wherever available..u have to get ur bookings atleast 10 days before ur trip starts,to keep things easy.keep an eye on weather forecast.

What about Rawalakot and Lasdana trip, are there issues in this area during rains?

This is much easier than neelum,several ways to enter and exit atleast 6 ways if any land sliding occurs in rain.

What is the route from Lasdana to Sudhan Gali? Road conditions?

By the way, how is road condition from Azad Pattan to Rawalakot? How much driving time this part takes?

Lasdana Bagh Sudhan gali.
Road is normal
Azad pattan to Rawlakot fantastic new road.Time taken is only 1.50 hr.

Neelum Valley has more variety but main issue is of land slide during moon soon season.
I went to Rawalakot last week. For 1-2 days stay Rawalakot is good and u can cover all distance on coure while u have to hire jeep at some point of neelum valley tour.

The last 10 KM patch before Azad Pattan is bad and rest is ok.Newly asphaltic road before Kahuta and remember to turn to Japan road in order to enter isb highway instead of under construction sihala patch.
Now a days the weather of rawlakot is fantastic.It is raining here almost daily.

Now there are many private guest houses and hotel in Neelum valley. they started operation this June. Pl guide where to turn, as I will be coming from Lahore on GT road.

After crossing toll plaza and at a distance of about 3KM there is concrete batching plant of MAAKSONS on right hand side and a road before it.Just turn on that road which will lead u to main Kahuta road.

AoA Guys, I am back from a memorable 5 days trip to Azad Kashmir. Thanks to all who advised about places, roads and weather etc.

We visited Rawalakot, Banjosa, Toli Pir, Bagh, Lasdana and Sudhan Gali during this trip.

Here is a brief summary of the trip for those who are planning to visit these areas.

Day-1:
Lahore-R. Pindi: (via GT Road)
R. Pindi-Kahota: Good road, to avoid bad patch of Sihala used Japan road as advised by saleemi.rsc
Kahota-Panjar: Good road, beautiful suroundings
Panjar-Azad Pattan: Ok road, last 10 km bad patches
Azad Pattan-RawalaKot: V good road
Rawalakot-Khai Gala: bad under construction road
Khai Gala-Koian-Banjosa: road is ok

Day-2:
Koian-Toli Pir & back to Koian: road is ok, lovely surroundings
Koian-Rawalakot
Rawalakot-Bagh via Arja: very good new road with few areas where patch work is going on. very beautiful surroundings
Bagh-Lasdana: Road is bad with some broken patches with stones and a couple of nullah crossings but not deep

Day-3:
Lasdana Surroundings and towards Haji Pir

Day-4:
Lasdana-Bagh
Bagh-Sudhan Gali: Road is ok in start, then a nullah crossing, then good road and last few Kms very bad broken road. But all the way very beautiful

Day-5:
Sudhan Gali-Bagh-Arja-Rawalakot-Azad Pattan-Kahota-R. Pindi- Lahore

Total distance traveled was 1035 KMs. Total fuel expense was Rs. 8,575 which included once filling of CNG

There is a road from Khai Gala (Rawalakot) to Hajira--Mehmood gali and then to Lasdana. Road distance is less then as compared to Rawalakot-Arja-Bagh-Lasdana but I was not advised by locals to use this route for Lasdana from Rawalakot. They said that road is bad and it will take same or more time to reach Lasdana, so it is better to use new road of Bagh.
