If you lose 1 number plate of your car immediately report to police & take FIR to Motor Vehicle Registration wing and file it.
a family member has landed in trouble because of missing plate. His Toyota Corolla Altis Sept 2010 registration has been 'Arrested' loaded with weapons and 2 terrorist on Islamabad sometime in last week of January 2011
Last saturday (Feb 26 2011) a police mobile along with an Intel official visited his house.
The car was parked there since 20th Jan 2011 as the last petrol filler credit car slip of 2700 is on dash with date of 17th Jan 2011, very much battery disconnected, covered, as the man of house is away on business trip.
2 other daily use respectable cars were also in porch so they left a note to contact immediately and not to remove the vehicle from house. I was called upon and i visited the ATC @ garden PHQ, the police guy explained what has happened he have the photos of the arrested car with date stamp, Identical model & color with a number plate visible @ Islamabad ATC station. I requested the I/O to come along to the house he called up the Intel guy and we visited the car. I asked the family to make available all the originals in respect of that car.
we uncovered the car and Bingo front original number plate missing, Intel guy and Police I/O took Photos from all angles of parked car. I got the registration book & the original file they reviewed made copies and asked to file the report of missing plate with a note they will provide as support. (excise office in Karachi now return the original files to owners of new vehicles and old car owners can also request for return of original file).
without going into detail of how when what who did what and number plate missing, i got an FIR lodged with help of the I/O & Intel guy, for missing plate and removed the 2nd original and submitted to Excise. Car is now with a new plate but it is easier to narrate it here then it was done....!...
Please ensure that Toyotas & Hondas of 2009 10 & 11 have all plates originals and every time you leave your car un attended do check the plates before you start driving again.
