I'm using Basf Glysantin and Caltex coolant in my cars. Good coolant will last much longer than mediocre products which at the end of the day result in better bang for the buck over the same time period.

Coolant amount is mentioned in the service manual. If you don't have that, it should be available online. Distilled water is readily available in almost all industrial sectors of every city ( e.g I8 and I9 in Islamabad have multiple shops that sell 5 liter bottles for like 150 rupees ).

Make sure all the old water/coolant is drained from the system before filling up. There are multiple write-ups on how to do this

brother this doesn't mean that there will be decrease of -68 Degrees in car temperature. it means that this coolant remains flowable at -68 degrees temperature.

best combinition suggested is 50/50. however since u r satisfied with 2/3rd coolant u can stick with that. however usually 2/3rd combinition gives less coolant functionality in hot temperatures. if u want to have best results switch to 50-50 coolant. besides our cars need ethylene glycol based coolant. please do share the details what is KSF 12+

Brother from this video it seems that increasing the coolant content in the mixture increases the boiling point, but another factor that we need to consider is the ability of the liquid to cool down in the radiator. more concentrated liquid might not take optimum time to cool down once its circulated between engine and radiator and also we need to consider the capability of water body to push the liquid in the engine. however the video is very informative. thanks for sharing.

2 parts LM and 1 part water (-68 C) which I went for; 3L LM and 1.5L water, total the car took in was 4.5L of radiator fluid

you just introduced a system to surely blow your headgasket.

66% concentration of coolant is required when you are drving in Siberia or other frozen deserts. If you drive with such coolant concentration in tropical area you will blow the headgasket as coolant itself doesnt cool down as good as water, that is why you have to use the 1:1 mix (aka 50% mix)

and please tell me you are joking when you "felt the fenders" and deduced the engine is running hot, then went ahead and made it run even hotter. LOL

KFS12+ is basically a dexcool clone. Meaning its the same as the caltex/havoline stuff being sold there in Pakistan. Havoline/Caltex/Chevron invented the OAT coolant way back in the 80s/90s - their biggest purchaser General Motors had it slightly tweaked for themselves including the pretty orange dye. So, most dexclones are basically dexcool without the orange dye - instead the blenders add a fluorescent green dye to detect leaks with a black light.

GM still use that same dexcool coolant in their vehicles today.

I have added about 1L of water to it, it is now 3L coolant with 2.5L water, will add more water if there becomes any capacity in the reservoir tank,

I think you are a bit confused on the formula for adjusting concentration of a liquid in a fixed volume vessel. when you drain some coolant mix to add water, you also are draining out some coolant concentrate too. To get the right volume, you need to know the total capacity - then add how much you added , then figure out the total concentration.

e.g. if you added 66% charge to a 50% charge - you need to know the volumes of both to get the actual charge value - then you need to get to work adjusting it.

e.g. if your total charge comes out to 75% coolant concentration then each litre you drain of the mix means you drain out 750 ml of the concentrate too.

Follow the manual, total 6.5 would be correct. Sounds like your dealership are on drugs arbitrarily coming up with 4.5 litres.

as per my experience all staff in all dealerships is just kids on daily wages with some basic training and basic technical diploma from any technical institute. i have vetted the same information from a technician with detailed interview.

you are right that reading the manual is important and following it accordingly is important too.

another important thing to consider that the glory is almost new car and it actually came with the right amount of coolant and water mix in its system from factory, local road side liqui moly and amsoil and kendal dealers have created a myth that these products are superior to any other product with proper certification rating mentioned like zic, kixx or atlas etc. i say its a way of looting people by selling them the same coolant at a much higher price.

anyways as jake pointed out above you need to be bit kinder. we all are not experts like u r. so conveying the same message in a humble manner helps and gets through better.

brother one more thing to consider is that you need to add distilled water with tds mentioned on the bottle.

as per my experience guard battery water and exide battery water both have tds between 0-1 which is ok.

its also mentioned on these water bottles that these can be used in radiator system.

i think to save the already spent hefty amount your approach is right. for now if u need topping up just add distilled water. however if possible best approach can be that u take all 6.5 litres out and tan make a 50/50 solution and pour it back in. however ensure that there are no leaks in the system and car is not reducing coolant at all.

further to that its a difficult process so lesson learned is that factory did put in the right coolant in the right quantity and mix so its better not to get carried away with the mythical branding like liqui moly, ams oil etc and stick with recommended grades and quantities of liquids in the vehicle as per manual and factory spec.

no - you can adjust the coolant concentration in place, its done everyday on millions of vehicles. It just takes a small basic math calculation.

provided you measured what came out, what went in and what is the total volumetric capacity.

Yes it can be done. However the calculation needed for this is beyond our naive mathemic skills :).

like me, my margallah has a bad hadbit of reducing coolant, however never any other issues like heating etc. so i just keep it topped up mostly with pre mixed ethylene glycol based coolant.

i have tested different coolant with the guage that i have and have found guard, aim and concept coolant as good however nasa came out to be same as water no better at all. toyota coolant is also good and so is honda type 2.

now back to my radiator, i have been able to identify a puncture in the upper plastic body of the radiator. i have already got the upper plastic body of the radiator changed however reduction issue remains. can u suggest any good radiators made locally and new and reliable. however since no other issue with the current one so i might continue to use it. just intend to start working for changing the current one if i have to.

This is school level math. You can even simplify it further if you wish. (C, M aur V wala formula yaad hai?)

But its 2022 - there are literal websites that can do that for you. And if you dont have SG siphon, you can weigh the coolant mix too (kerosene ki SG wala experiment in school) to get to know the exact concentration of the coolant. (you can refer to the PDS of the product to find the SG of it neat and also when mixed - then make a rough line chart to give you an approximate number of the current concentration (assuming you know that EG coolants do not follow a straight line chart above 75% concentration)

Im from oldschool and used to do such stuff on back of ciggie packs or random paper/box/carton I found.

by gauge Im assuming you have a refractometer or a specific gravity scale.

Local made radiators for the older cultus are available. They fit in. While you are at it, check the metal coolant pipe that goes from the bottom of radiator to the waterpump, that is the most ignored point.

Pleeeease don't use gaurd coolants, very bad quality.

I have used Caltex and Aisin, pretty good and reasonable actually.

I have used both guard and caltex coolants, Guard has always done a great job. Currently using Guard in both my Passo and Civic and alhamdullilah cant complain. I have always opted for the premixed guard red coolant, extremely cheap and reliable. Caltex has always been great too but as far as I remember guard pre mixed was cheaper than caltex concentrated.

Pretty sure people who have had bad experiences with either brand have had it due to their own mistakes.

Personally flushed my friends vitz 2004 with guard coolant and it’s working fine so far from past 3 weeks+. I bought it from Metro Faisalabad.

Coolant is not used for flushing purposes!
