last few years economy around the world is hit by recession. So far so that Detroit which was known as motor city of the world is now filed for bankruptcy.Anyways couple of years ago the industry have gain some momentum and auto companies are trying hard to come up with better and expanded line up of their model and to grab the maximum market. The trend have pushed the luxury auto makers to come up with cheap models to expand their market and sales. In recent months Mercedes as well as Audi came up with their entry level sedans to attract the younger buyers. The price of the entry levels are low and pushing buyers to think about getting these luxury brands. I reported previously about Mercedes Benz CLA and Audi A3 Sedan. Now another automaker is in the game and this time BMW. CLA and A3 revealed, BMW came at the right time to give some more choices for the new buyers. BMW 2 series have been rendered and remained on internet blogs and forums for a while but now its a reality. According to BMW the 2 series will be longer and wider than the on going 1 series.BMW will introduce 2 models for 2 series. 228i which will be powered by a 240HP, 2 Liter turbo charged engine and M235i, which will be with 3.0 L turbo charged inline 6 cylinder engine producing 322 HP. The M235i will also feature performance features like adaptive suspension, sports tuned steering, high performance tires and upgraded braking system.Both models are rear-wheel drive and are available with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
BMW says the 2-Series will officially debut at the North American International Auto Show in January and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2014. Pricing starts at $33,025 for the 228i and $44,025 for the M235i.

It would have been nice if BMW also came up with 4 door sedan as this will address a majority of the people who want a cheap vehicle and also BMW.

Driving Assistant.The equipment Driving Assistant warns you of an unintentional lane change at speeds from approx. 70 km/h by means of vibrations in the steering wheel. The warning is not activated if the lane change is deliberate, in other words the turn indicator has been activated.When a collision with other vehicles or pedestrians is imminent, the collision and Pedestrian warning with city braking function warns the driver in good time and brakes in an emergency.
iDrive Touch Controller.The iDrive Touch Controller enables the iDrive system to be conveniently operated with a single hand. Thanks to the touchpad integrated in the Controller, the driver can easily enter information such as destinations in the navigation system using his or her own handwriting.It can also be used to access and configure numerous functions and scroll through lists. Operating the system is very simple and intuitive (based on a sense of touch). This makes life especially easy for the driver, since it keeps distraction from traffic to an absolute minimum. All functions operated using the Controller can be conveniently viewed in the Control Display.
Park Assistant.The Park Assistant makes parallel parking easier. Upon request, the system measures any parking spaces the vehicle passes when driving at low speeds (below 35 km/h).When a suitable space has been found, the driver turns on the indicator and the Park Assistant takes over the steering, while the driver continues to operate the gears, accelerator and brakes. During this process, the system provides directions in the Control Display and additional acoustic signals. The result: parking is safer and less stressful than ever.

a machine with 240 & 322 hp cant be cheap and I think target customers r those who love performance out of small cars.
base price 33K for 240HP and 44K for 322HP
The Germans are on a roll. In contrast the North AMerican car brands looks contrived and out of tune save for one or two models.I like the 2-series design though if it is based on the 1 series the space inside must be cramped.Give me a FIAT Linea instead, it's way cheaper for one and offers twice the space and the T-Jet will pack a punch tuned to 240bhp, i'm sure. And, then i saw what Chrysler has done with the Linea chassis and i'm still recoiling from it. In conclusion , i'm willing to pay extra and sit in a cramped space for the 2. The 2 and the A3, CLA are all slated for 2014 launch in India and i wiil have the pleasure of seeing them in the flesh at the 2014 New Delhi Auto Expo in February and will share the views with y'all.

That is a beauty, hope they consider a four door version too, Mercedes is so ugly not even worth it, Audi is the best option currently.
2 series will remain a 2 door coupe. No 4 door sedan .
