I'm pretty amused to see the typical responses of people here every time a new vehicle is launched or about to be launched. There is this group of people who always point out the shortcomings in a newly launched auto and dismissing it without even thinking that arrival of a new brand is always good for people as this will give more options to the deprived average public here in Pakistan who have to choose between Corolla, Civic, Vigo, Fortuner etc for luxury car options at a high price.
In case of this BRV launch, most of the people are forgetting the price at which this is launched. It's obviously good if you can look at the car before deciding to buy. But calling those people stupid who have booked early without looking at the car is taking this a bit too far. They may turn out to be more intelligent than these commentators as they are booking early knowing that the price is very low (when compared to the price of other 7 seater options available in Pak) and that should be locked now as by the time they will see this car in March, the price can increase any time due to huge demand.
Also, by booking early, they ensured early delivery. This happened with Civic launch last year too, as guys who booked early didn't face this waiting time of 6 months and more that is prevailing now. If you wait till you see the car then you may very well have to wait 8 months or more and worse have to book at a higher price.
To each, his own. It's better not to be emotional and call everything stupid. This BRV launch at this price of 2.35m will surely be haunting a lot of people in Suzuki (Vitara price!), Toyota (less than half the price of Fortuner which obviously is a class apart in terms of engine and other accessories, but still a locally assembled 7 seater) and other imported cars. Everything is relative and if you give the public options at a low price, they will take it and demand of every other car will be affected somewhat.
Comparison of this BRV with international markets is illogical as people have better options available there at a better price - we just have to think about the situation in Pakistan. Given the demand received by BRV, this launch IMO will compel other Assemblers to start local assembling of other better options that are available internationally at low prices. So its a very good development.
