BRV turned out to be a big disappointment for many people who were confused about which car to buy. There are quite a few people I personally know who went to book new Civic but instead booked BRV when BRV was announced back in March/April even when it did not come to showroom. The reason? well Civic was 2.6m while BRV - a supposedly 7 seater locally assembled auto from Honda cheaper by 3 lacs. However after few months when they saw the car on the roads, they got thoroughly disappointed as it looked a class below Civic and are now aiming to sell their cars as soon as they arrive and book Civic or Vezel or even Fortuner. No wonder the own is so low in BRV.
P.S. On a related note, I don't know why so many people here on Pakwheels cringe all the time when someone mentions the comparison between a SUV or cross over with sedan and others. It is theoretical/bookish to assume that these vehicles cannot be compared. But practically, a person does not make this decision solely on the basis of his need for a 7 seater or off road driving but there are many other factors at play. There are many people in the place I work who were all set to buy Oriel, but after hearing about the issues, instead raised their budget and bought either Vigo/Revo or Fortuner even when their family comprised just 2 people and their commute would remain within DHA Karachi with no long drive. Similarly, some of them who were seriously considering Vigo are now driving Oriel as the former's prices have increased. All these cars compete with each other. When you are spending over 20 lacs, you are not spending this much amount just to meet your basic need (you can even get that with Bolan)- you want comfort and above all prestige.
Coming back to BRV, it is a very good car for those only who have the genuine need of a 7 seater crossover available under 25 lacs budget. For others looking for value for money, well, there are better options.
