I checked one at Montgomery Road for Rs 22000/- with installation. It was of very good built quality and is a must have accessory for BRV if you travel as lot with 5+ people in your BRV.

I think its unfair to compare a M/T and CVT in a drag as power train of a CVT car has quite more loses compared to an M/T car's power train cuz it has a torque converter instead of clutch. Therefore, a CVT car's power train is bound to deliver lesser power to the wheels as compared to an M/T car.

City 1.5 M/T may give tough time to Civic 1.8 CVT in the first half of the drag however as the cars' speed increase and Civic's torque converter locks, City 1.5 shud be no match for Civic 1.8.

As seeing is believing, watch this famous BBC Top Gear clip of drag race b/w Buggatti Veyron (1000hp, A/T) and McLaren F1(620hp, M/T)

While a Civic 1.8 engine is just 17% powerful than City 1.5, Bugatti is 61% powerful than McLaren. Still, McLaren gives a tough fight.

Actually, its not the CVT that eats up. Its the torque converter, that couples CVT with the engine.....
And yes, it'll affect BRV more cuz apparently it seems to have lesser power to weight ratio..... Not sure abt the exact figures....

Hello folks, Thank you for all the discussion above as I am about to book a BRV-S within a month time Inshallah, I would like to know about 3 things specifically.

1- The fuel consumption of 1.5 BRV-S Automatic (Within City)
2- How good is the Air conditioning system, (Average, Good or Excellent) please compare it Corolla 1.3 AC system.
2 - Annual Road Tax+WHT for Karachi.

Hi Everyone,

I am looking a car with 7 seating options and now i am confused between honda BRV and Toyota Prius Alpha? Any ideas how is Prius compared to BRV or which one out of these 2 is a better option?

Further, a naive question but, I test drove BRV at Honda center and I noticed the max speed on speedometer is 180, whereas my city 1.3 has max of 220.. Why does BRV has less max speed than city despite being 1.5? Is it something to do with power to weight ratio? or whats the reason behind it?

I think brv is better option. Pakistan made so no spares issue. High ground clearance made for Pakistan roads. Cvti. These are few things which make the first choice. But yes prius alpha has more comfert then brv.
Brv is suv so not built for speed but for off roading coupled with on road luxury. So it's max speed is less.

Fuel consumption within city is 11 max and on highway its 15 max.
I had an altis 1.6 before this and the air conditioning is just as good if not better because of the dual ac.
I have no idea about token tax in karachi however i paid 3400 in Islamabad, and withholding is 50000 for filer and 100000 for non filer.

Brv is a better option, it will be a brand new car and as naveed bhai said it won't have spare parts issue and will give you peace of mind.
However i guess the lower maximum speed is due to its high ground clearance which would probably make it unstable above 180. And it also has a kerb weight greater than the city.

Traveled today on National highway at speed around 80km/h

Please share a pic when you are driving at 80km/h. At what RMP your speed is 80 constantly. At constant speed of 80 i got 17.8km/l for 90km trip.

During driving I couldn't took any pic. Some times due to traffic it drops to 60kmph.

Your main question had been answered above i just want to clear your misconception, if a speedo on a car says 200kmph it doesn't mean that car can actually achieve that. I'm not sure that city can actually achieve even 200kmph speed. The chiron has a speedo that goes upto 500 even though it can't reach 500 as of now as a tire that can handle that speed and be road legal is not made right now so maybe it will achieve 500 in the coming years and may be not.

I just bought BR-V i-VTEC S variant but I feel there's a problem with seats. The seats are way too hard or the foam is too compressed. Is it just me who feel that way or is there someone else who believes the same.

I have 2010 xli and compared to it BR-V seats should have been better but they are too hard and become highly uncomfortable on long journeys. And I am not even talking about the 3rd row seats. the 2nd (middle) row seats face the same dilemma. There's simply not enough cushion to it.

Same goes for the front row seats. I get stiff back easily. I mean if a kid bounce on a foam it should bounce with him but in BR-V it seems the seats are made up of rock or wood or something?

Does the same happens with you guys?
