are we discussing real alloy wheels or the heavy chinese garbage that most people fit with incorrect sized tyres?

the only disadvantage REAL alloy wheels have is that they can't handle the weight loads of steel wheels unless they are made of exotic construction materials and processes. otherwise REAL alloys are always going to be better for the suspension, handling etc than steel. (this applies to similar sized steel vs alloy wheels only and not to plus size applications).

Proper alloy wheel (Borbet, BBS, Alcoa, etc) are very good as they reduce the unsprung weight of the car making the wheel actually stay in contact with the road - and not float on rebound (heavy chinese stupid wheel does that)

the other advantage of branded alloy wheel is that its a giant heatsink for the brake disc - the light aluminium heats up fast and cools equally fast too sucking the heat into itself - the design sheds heat fast.

For a test - go and pick up an old 15 inch (eight hole) mercedes alloy wheel - see how light it is compared to the chinese wheel you usually buy.

The disadvantage is strength - they cannot take the shock beating a steel wheel can take

What about the company fitted alloy rims of Toyota and Honda cars here in Pakistan. Are they real ones or heavy Chinese garbage?

actually alloy wheels have no disadvantage, bcz alloy wheels are light weight, double in strength than steel rims as told by discovery channel last night in programme FACTORY MADE

those advantage are of REAL ALLOY RIM,not chinese tht weigh equal to normal ones plus no surity abt quality..
betetr stick to steel ones rather throwin away on chinese rims!

Continuing Storm and Xulfiqar, They wont fall off like hubcaps/wheel caps.

Disadvantage, If u dont get the correct thing, You might actualy end up replacing a gazzilion things, suspension/bushes/ frequent alingment shop visits etc

readily avalible are Lenso, enkei, Wolks, BBS,

im not sure if Advanti is a gud a brand, but rims are expensive, got my self Taiwan ones, Probably Chineses or locally made, but they weight around 5kg without tires brand was HH or HS

OEM Corolla rims cost 20k per peice, While After market copies are avalible for 3rd grade 17k (4 peices)

2nd Grade 20k (4 peices)

1st Grade, (claimed to be lighter then OEM rims and Next to OEM best quality) costs 24k 4 Peices)

The 1st grade quality is sold from 24k to 35k depending on the dealer youre dealing from, Even Toyota 3S dealers have these for 29-35k Depending on dealer to dealer.

Thats 100% correct, as the calculations ruin, you never get the best wheel aligment driving comfort can be ruined due to profile of the tire, tire turnings can be a issue if the tire is wider then recomended.

More then that extra weight on suspension

If they are of that quality described by storm and xulfiqar that corolla and civic will be available in another addition of 150k in price tag.

Yet I see the people changing the original rims of their Corollas and going for Chinese ones having more "shushka"

Altho one cant stop any one, but still, Changing OEM rims isnt a crime when ones concerned about looks, I know many people who have got there rims tires changed for upto 250k, a normal decent set of tires and Lenso rims can cost upto 70-90k.

My sujjestion regarding rims is;
1. Stay with OEM rims as possible.
2. When wish to buy alloy so move only to recomended size (by company) and best quality available in market.

Do you believe in Corolla MT 17' Rims would be a good choice, likewise if we will drive it in Naran Kaghan area, will 17" rims not touch with body as roads are not so good.
