Alloy rims or original steel?

I am thinking of fitting alloys on my mehran, but I don't want to upgrade if it doesn't imrpove performance.
My concern is that the alloys in the market are not of good quality, so I would be better off with my steel rims?

My tyres are also stock general tyres that came with the car 6 years ago with 40K KM on the car. Should I change them and what with?
Would village roads make a difference on which tyres to use?

avoid alloys at all costs, at this rim size you'll only get chinese which are heavy and unreliable. wheels do affect the handling of vehicle. your genuine steel rims are best.
Change tyres if you have to with good quality tyres. Save your alloy expense and invent in good quality tyres.

The rubbers life on a tyre is approx 5 years, change your tyres and opt for a reputable brand. Leave the alloys for now it’s very hard finding a reliable alloy of this size.

steelies are heavy but on the same time they are more resilient and provide rail like driving experience with properly balance rubber on them..

alloys are light weight as compared to steel rims and look good on car, hence might very slightly improve the performance of vehicle both in terms of fuel economy and initial pick up..

however as mentioned above its really hard to find new quality alloys matching with mehran OEM wheel profile, however many options will be available in chinese alloys which are before par quality mostly...

sub standard alloys are not only heavier than the steel rim but also very weak... they are prone to breaking on impact rendering major damage to car while the steelies might survive with a bend...

heavier wheels also do affect the suspension of car and would be needing earlier expense to overhaul suspension...

however you might try your luck finding a used set of very good light weight alloys having profile under 5% range of OEM but concerns are it shudnt be repaired and perfectly balanced...

I don't think there's any option other than Chinese in 12 and 13 inch size

Unless he’s willing to source a set straight from Japan, but then again even that wouldn’t be easy. We’ve had the tyres changed on a mehran in our family recently, costed about 25k and they’re on steel rims. The car is smooth as ever we even took it on a long drive to Hyderabad from karachi with no performance issues.
