City suspension is stiff as compared to corolla. Test it out in on rough surface or road having pot holes you will know what I am saying. Altis is 4 speed and it provide better shifting than 5 speed prosmatec due to great lower end torque, low engine noise. Earlier I was concerned too as 4 speed sound low on paper but you need to drive the car in order to believe it.
City auto 2009 above model fuel consumption is worst, as stated above my altis 1.6 gives only slightly lower mileage than city 1.3 auto, there is a whole world different between ride quality of both. Altis manage to come close to city auto average despite 195 tires and 300 cc more engine!
Trust my words if you have budget and you have shortlisted only 1.5 City auto or Altis 1.6, go for Altis 1.6, also point to note that Altis 1.6 gives almost equal or better mileage than Gli auto, due to newer tech engine and better power to weight ratio.
