Altis 1.8 s.r 2009 has very bad fuel economy, any help regarding this issue will be appreciated

Bought the car in november last year at 73000 kms driven. Fuel economy in the city is anywhere between 7-8.5 and on long route 11.5-12.5.

Also, does this altis have a cat convertor? As i am confused because the owners manual is lost.

Shell doesn't produce 5w30 nowadays in Pakistani believe. Well there are many things involved. Air filter fuel filter the engine oil etx etc. Start from the basics and then proceed to the cat converters etc.

Hi there, i have an Altis 2010 automatic and it has pretty much same consumption. Giving me around 8 in the city and around 12 on motorways if being driven at 120kmh... However i have got approx on GT road and it gave me 651kms in a 46 liters but i drove it like a gentleman around 80km/h.
So I would suggest you should not worry about this millage and this is all you can have from a 1zz engine running with a 4 speed auto transmission. I would also suggest you should check the fuel filter that is due for replacement after 80k and get the iridium spark plugs installed. While driving on the motorways keep the speed around 110kmh and try to use cruise control as i have seen my car giving great output while cruise control is on.

Yar u need to follow 3 steps only.
Catalytic converter cleaning.
Denso irridium spark plugs.
Hi octane often.
I have kept 1.8 2010 altis it MASHALLAH giving 11.7 with ac in city without ac 12km/l

Sir now my 2009, 1.8 sr manual is doing 13.8 km/ l in city rush hours after installing ngk plugs, complete throttle n injectors cleaning and catalytic converter cleaning. My number 03330202332

bro...this car returns upto 10 KM/ltr for city driving, u need to used original air filter and atleat 10W-40 oil grade for that.5W-30 should work great...
and yes it has a cat converter and O2 sensor is installed after that...

do remember to clean the MAF sensor with electric contact cleaner and check plugs as well...

be gentle on gas pedal, being electronic throttle there is a bit delayed response...

on long routs gives above 15 KM/ltr..
