Altis Grande AC unit replacement: Manual to Automatic

I was thinking of replacing the manual knob type AC unit of my Altis Grande to auto/electric one which has been introduced in new Grande. Knobs are cave age concept.

When I approached Toyota Islamabad Motors, I was told that the WHOLE unit would be replaced as the manual system has wires while the auto one has ECU. The price will be 350,000. I decided to wait for some car to reach chor bazar so I get it for 50,000. However the exchange is possible.

Wait for a few weeks this new one is also going to be addressed as an old one.
This time IMC is launching it with exterior cosmetic changes.

are you sure its matter of few weeks? Booking time is still 3-4 months for almost all variants but still they will introduce changes and it's hardly been 2 months this immoblizer one is launched

So that you get it for 50,000 from chor bazaar and the victim of that chori has to get it replaced for 350,000...

Even if you do manage to swap all the components, your dashboard will really squeaky at the end of it, wont be worth the effort

IMO its not worth replacing, the single zone climate control in the grande is very dumb, all it will do when you set the temp is adjust the fan speed till the interior temp matches the outside temp, and in hot summers youll just hear a deafening fan roar all the time. Ill like it a lot more if it was true dual zone or had additional features such as a charcoal filter or a variable ac compressor.

Does it trip of compressor when desired temperature is reached ? And restart when temp rises.

yes it would trip the compressor when the desired temp is reached, however at the same time it also blends hot and cold air to maintain set temperature depending on variables so it may not trip that much often.

I didn't find climate control on this corolla to be good. I miss old strong manual ac in corolla.

I would not bother. Actually, manual AC is better than auto climate control. I wish I could still book the new Immobilizer Grande with manual AC controls! Thats because auto climate control almost always does not end up running with the settings you want, but instead chooses to do something based on its own mind. I always end up running mine in manual mode (9th gen Civic) as it almost always does not run at the settings I want. Its the same reason why some people prefer manual transmission vs auto transmission. Instead of constant fighting the system to force it to run in manual mode, I'd rather not have it at all.
