I have alto vxr 1000cc 2004 model. It is driven within city, is used by my mother and i'm planning to teach driving to my younger siblings on it too. I have decided to get it converted to 660 cc with automatic transmission. I've done my research and have realized that if done right, this conversion is very beneficial as compared to the existing 1000 cc carburator engine. Also I think this costs around 2 lac nowadays. Offcourse the costs rise as you keep on adding the accessories but bare minimum cost is this.
I wanted to ask about suggestions regarding this conversion. The main thing that i've noticed is that the quality of engine/gear etc matters the most, as the installation by mechanics who do this regularly is not that different from each other. The main difference making thing is the condition of the engine/gear etc. So please guide me regarding this process from your own experience. Which specific engine to look for ? Which transmission(I think 4 gear one should be installed) ? Install catalytic converter or not ? Etc Etc. Should i buy engine and these things separately in front of myself and then give this all to the mechanic. Or is there a workshop that i can trust with the whole process ? Because again i think the difference making thing is the quality of the engine/gear box and other equipment.
And any suggestion for a good mechanic and workshop in isl/rwp who can do this without problems ? Any suggestions where to buy these parts ?
And any other suggestions from your own experiences or knowledge would be welcomed.
