Alto 1000cc Heater Issue

I have alto 1000cc 2009 model and its heater is not working. The electrician told me that its "jaali" is leaked and he tested it with water. Water then goes in to driver seat carpets so he said that Jaali is leaked and needs replaced which will cost 3000-3500.

I want to ask does header has such thing or just pipe is leaked? Can anyone share what might be leaked. AC air blows fine on dashboard upper area to screen so air is coming its heater that do not work.

In most cars here in PK, mechanics disconnect the heater core saying it will effect the cooling of car. so when they disconnect they dont flush / vaccum it which results in rusting of the heater core.

i would suggest, go to an ac wala, get the whole system fixed including the ac and heating system. because for replacing heater core, he will open the complete system beneath the dashboard and so he will charge the labour.

he will also arrange for you heater core for alto vxr.

if ur ac is working then ur kharcha will be minimum and do ask the ac wala about the whole process.

Very well explained by members. It's a difficult job in alto. The dashboard needs to be completely removed. 3-3500 must be the labour cost heater core cost might not be incl in this. After core replacement you would be req to flush the cooling system and pour in coolant. While flushing the sys one odd leak might come out. Lamba kharcha ha. I suggest it's not worth it. Let the winter season pass, and you would completely forget about it

A very common defect in our pkdm Alto. My heater core leaked when my car was just 50k driven back in 2008 and i never got it repaired because to replace the heater core the mechanic had to dismantle most of the dashboard. I preferred to suit up instead

Any specific reason for core leak? Were you using plain water?
