Alto 2025 Engine Oil Confusion & First Service Concern

Salam everyone,

I bought a brand new Suzuki Alto VXL from a Suzuki dealership in Karachi on January 15, 2025. It's been a good experience overall, but I ran into something that really confused me, and I’d love input from experienced members here

Local User Manual vs Japanese User Manual
The Japanese user manual recommends:
Oil grade: 0W-16 or 0W-20 (API SN / ILSAC GF-5 or higher)
Capacity with filter change: 2.6 liters

But the Urdu manual provided by the dealership says:
Oil grade: 10W-40
Capacity with filter change: 2.7 liters

I understand that oil grades can be climate-specific, but this seems like a significant change. Anyone else notice this? Is 10W-40 safe long-term for the R06A engine?

Also during the first free service at 1000 kilometers, I expected the dealership to change the engine oil and filter (even if I had to pay), since the first oil change is crucial to remove manufacturing debris (metal shavings, assembly residues and contaminants etc.

But they only did an inspection, no oil or filter change.
Isn’t this a bit risky for a new engine? What’s everyone else’s experience with Suzuki dealerships on this?

My Questions:

1. What engine oil grade are you guys using for the R06A engine here in Pakistan?
2. Did your dealership change the oil + filter on the first service?
3. Should I get the oil changed myself ASAP to be safe?

Would really appreciate recommendations or if anyone has verified info.

congratulations sir @pwuser173701232549 please use your urdu manual guidelines, as long as your vehicle is under warranty..

Or if you can insist & fight out 3S dealership to use 5w-20 engine oil, you shall carry with you and make your point to manage it through out warranty. don;t take their threat or warning for warranty void, produce the english copy of same R06A engine maintenance schedule. used elsewhere in region.

Suzuki Defence has 5 30 and also 0 20 (if I am not wrong). I have been using 5 30 since last 6 yrs. 10 40, No Way!!!

Also, bhai you are the owner, they do what you tell them to do. Since 2006 when I bought the first car from my earnings (Sandro club gv brand new), I have always changed the first oil at 1000, second at 3000 (means after 2000kms) and then regularly. I always change oil filter (even though Honda Dealership told me to alternate on it). You may think it to be an overkill but I also changed gear oils of my santro & cultus vxri at 10,000 kms then went regular. This will definitely ensure longevity

I strongly suggest you change engine oil at 1500 with oil filter, second at 4500 and then go regular.

Also it not an automatic, it's AGS, so please take ot easy. No hard foot, constantly pit in neutral in traffic jams, don't hold the car on incline with the accelator, use breaks.

I’ve decided to politely inform the dealership that I’d prefer to use Suzuki Ecstar 0W-20 or 5W-20, as recommended by Suzuki globally for the R06A engine. Just to be prepared, I’ll also keep the Japanese / English manual pages and maintenance schedule handy in case they push back or try to challenge it. Hopefully, they’ll cooperate

For peace of mind, I always maintain detailed maintenance logs for all my cars. Just checked my records my Honda City 2020 got its first oil change at 1,000 km at the Honda dealership. It's been 5 years running perfectly on 0W-20, and honestly, it still drives like it's brand new.

Bro go for 0W-20 (API SN / ILSAC GF-5). I kept 0 meter vxl and drove around 20-25 k kms... From 1st oil change i use the same 0w-20 and it works great. But to keep warranty intact I purchased oil and filter from Suzuki dealership....
