Alto 660 cc engine / gear issue

Hello..i have a 2006 suzuki alto 660 cc 2013 registered...i bought it 6 months back...initially i travelled alot in it...it gave very good mileage even with AC on..but there was always a sound at the startup and little vibration in the gear during the drive..recently the vibration in gear has increased alot with a knocking type sound coming from it...moreover the car used to start on first attempt..but since last 2 weeks it takes me 5 minutes to startup in the morning...that may be due the cold weather but if i miss the first attempt then it takes lot of time to startup..also the gear start vibrating and producing that sound. Also i feel that fuel consumption has increased as well..i visited a mechanic and he told me that engine tappets are tight and i have to remove the engine or at least head to rectify the problem. Any comments / suggestions?

If you are in Lahore or close to it, I would recommend going to Mini Motors Pak Suzuki showroom in Gulberg and ask for a mechanic named Islam. He is a champ at engine diagnosis and will give you a good evaluation.

I do not believe suzuki will design an engine where you have to remove the engine or head to adjust the valves so something doesn't look right in this feedback you got.
