Alto AGS Clutch Plate/Disc

I bought Alto AGS in March 2020 which is insured from Adamjee.I need some guidance .Driver kept his foot on brake while parking downhill .There was burning smell in parking area with fumes .I got car checked with Sethi Motors they said that clutch plates needs to be replaced and that is not covered in warranty .The clutch plates replacement would cost me about 40,000.However, the engineer suggested me to drive the car until it is operating.
Whenever I park in my home garage and put pressure on brake while parking burning smell again starts from bonnet .Please suggest me what course of action I should opt as I am new driver don't have any knowledge about these things.

I try to put on neutral but today on Jail road under pass I was stuck in treffic jam and putting foot on break again and again may be the cause of resurfacing the smell .Otherwise car is giving very good average Alhumdulillah

In my opinion, yes, you should replace damaged clutch plates immediately.

I would have agreed to engineer's advice to drive the car until current clutch plates keep working, but only if that burning smell problem was a single occurrence. But as you said that the burning smell starts again even when you're doing something as simple as parking the car in your garage, I wouldn't risk it and get the clutch plates replaced immediately.

I hope you are not using both feet at the same time.

Accelerate with right foot and brake with left foot. If you do this. Please use only 1 foot to operate the car.

I've seen someone burn out a brand new GLi clutch while on the way to Ayubia in a traffic jam - the idiot was using it to hold the car stationary on an incline.

Manual transmissions, whether clutch operated or AGS, are easier to abuse and destroy than torque converter automatics.

Usually you can't kill a clutch in a AGS as easy as you can in a manual since you can't really control it.

The actuator is a smart device it learns your behavior and operates accordingly.

I am not using both feet but the driver whom I gave the car to park used both feet and kept his foot with full force on break .He was not aware how to drive Automatic car and my bad that I handed over him to park

40,000 is the estimated cost of replacing clutch plates while I drove only 3000 km yet in 8 months .My friend said may be break shoe is the issue and asked to get it checked from neutral person beside from dealer .Please suggest any reliable expert in Lahore

i m using vxr manual alto in which accelarator is electronic. when you press brake pedal slightly. it cancel accelarator signal instantly.even you press race pedal further. it will not take race unless you take off your foot and press again gas pedal.
you may use car as it till issue appeared again.
these guys may have no experience of installing clutch plate in this new model car. so never let your car as experiment model for them.

let the car roll in N on a steep decline
use brakes and see if the smell is the same
if it is, its the brakes

lol, I take that this is the first AGS box you have driven in your lifetime?

AGS transmissions are extremely easy to kill, the clutch is held at bite point on creep (same as driver hazraat trying to hold car with clutch and gear rather than brake).

abnormal cost. it does not use any special clutch plates. why so expensive

if it is not covered under warranty, get it changed from outside and the same job would cost you around 15000 from outside.

That is news for me. Yes the car does behave clutch hold release at stop and go traffic. (Small jerks)

the amount people save on fuel
on ABS unit or Cell Error. all saving blown in dust

seems to be simiar case with AGS....its very fuel efficient.but amount will knock out on clutch change

suzuki will probably install SGP items and also change the apply pump etc, the rest will be charged as labour.

This is EXACTLY why i recommend everyone to Neutral the car on every red light and also do NOT expect hill assist.
