Mine averages 10-13kmpl. Reason? It's like a CD 70 of a delivery boy. House to market, shop to shop within the market, on/off, on/off, engine idling with AC on.
For gear change, as @capsat said, feather foot for initial takeoff, then zoom it like a Cessna. You just need to get a hang of it, once you do, trust me it will drive smoothly. In traffic it tends to hold 2nd gear the most so dont rev suddenly otherwise you will clearly feel the clutch being overridden. Otherwise when in the mood, I have crossed 40kmph in 2nd, 80kmph in 3rd and done 120kmph in 4th but very seldom. It's a dinky so treat it like one and enjoy the AC, brakes and most importantly that butter smooth steering with an excellent turning radius. Hardly need to reverse, takes a u turn like the old 2 stroke rickshaw.
