Guys plz guide me about the Alto VXR/CNG. It is a worth buying car???

hi there,

i own an alto VXR CNG. i bought it new about one year back. Overall the car is good for the price except for the suzuki quality. my door handles broke 3 times in one year. as for the fuel economy, it gives about 10km/litre with ac in the city. and on cng it gives 110km/one full cylinder (costs Rs. 235 to fill). not very economical for 1,000 cc car but hey its a suzuki. how much can u expect.

engine is very noisy especially with ac. ac works well. suspension is smooth but little delicate. i have had 41,000kms and so far the car is trouble free.

i think overall not bad.

economy figures u r quoting for alto VXR are same as my spectra, i think it is horrible for a 1000cc car.

engine is too old, 4 cyl 8 valve, it's expected result though a little better can be achieved

thats right. the engine, as i understand is quiet old and its not fuel efficient. its a derivative of suzuki potohar (jeep).
i do have a habit of accelerating and revving the engine in each gear so little better results might be achievable with a milder driving.

however even then i dont think it can give more than 11km/litre.

you r right mazher, one way only i.e. by blocking some part of carb nozzles not a good soltuion i know, but it can increase to lets say 15~17 km, but for CNG i think average is pretty high, it should do at least 140 km/cyl with AC in city and on highway 170 km/cyl

bhai sahib it is astonishing
my toyota 86 petrol converted to 1N diesel engine(1994)...overhauled in 2001
gives me 11km/ltr in abbotabad region of mountains...yes it is a reality...
engine is very weak and needs complete change...emmits so much dark smoke that i cant see in back mirror...(problem discussed with fli_gti)....this engine gives 11km/ltr...i cant imagine a 1000cc alto giving only 10km/ltr it must be near 20 km...my cousin having citymanual 2004 in isb enjoys 17km/ltr....

ONLY THOSE CARS are fuel efficient who are EFI...AS alto is not efi...so go for
adam REVOlution 1050cc,santro club or daihatsu coure...

no offence but you guys are dead wrong on the consumption figures. my alto gives me 200+ kms in a 55kg cylinder without A/C within the city! however it consumes petrol as if it were a sports car .. i think it gives you less then 10 kms to a litre of fuel.
another thing ,you guys could have your cars serviced because as far as i remember ,the alto i had back in 2002,used to give me 120 kms max in a 55kg cylinder when i bought it brand new .. im not too good at technicalities but i think the bad consumption was due to the mixture of gas and petrol.i had it checked,they cleaned it from the inside and comsumption goes 200+ and the car drives a whole lot better :).all it cost me was 500 rs.i sold that alto after using it for 8 months because i hated it!.. but for some reason bought one again some 3 days back
