AliKhan thats a very nice structured comparison. Since my budget is a bit limited so 2007-08 Alto is beyond my reach. I am trying to get the best within my reach thats why I am taking time to compare what will be the best for me.

My daily run is not that much, averaging about 100 kms per week, inside the City, mostly on bumpy roads, so I need that the ride should be comfortable with not much jolts and bumps. Weather is hot mostly and my kid is very small so I need a good Ac in the car for my child's comfort, else I can myself live without an AC.

Moreover I want a car that at least apart from routine maintenance like Oil/ Filter Change etc, I dont want to be standing in front of mechanic for things like that my car doors and back is making chirping sounds every now and then. In light of these specific needs, what would you or other Pakwheelers recommend for me

And another off topic question, but lets say If I buy a Car registered in another City, for example Rawalpindi, Lahore etc here in Peshawar, can I pay yearly token tax in ETO Office in Peshawar or do every year I have to go to these cities in simmering heat, stand in long ques and pay the dues. anyway if someone would like to answer a question that whethe its possible to pay token tax of a Rawalpindi or lahore registered car here in Peshawar or whether every year i have to go there for paying token fee

based on your needs i can suggest other vehicles which can fulfill your requirement but as i mentioned in my last post that old cars needs some fixes and u might spend 1/2 months identifying things to be done
I m telling you from my personal experience i bought coure 2004 last year and till now i almost spend 60k rs but now my car drives like new.
lets say ur looking for 06 Cultus and u find one in good condition(body wise) i guess price would be around 6.5 lacs and u still don't know how much amount u have to spend fixing things which u'll find later on.
so my advice would be to buy some thing which has low mileage under 50k
i would also reckon to add coure in your list if u get good 1 there will be no regrets and AC is also good
Other options could be JOY,Terrios Kid and Pajero mini
let me rank best possible options according to your need but u've to jump up with your budget little bit

Budget assumed:6.5 lacs

1. ALTO (08-09) / Coure (06-07) < 50 k mileage
2. Vitz 99-01 < 100 k mileage
3. Cultus (05-06) < 70 k mileage
4. JOY 08 -09
5. ALTO JDM
6. Santro 06-07
7. Terios Kid 2003-2004
8. Pajero mini 2003-2004

From the list which you have mentioned, I called a friend of mine who deals in spare parts in Peshawar Saddar and he told me that Chevy Joy, Pajero Mini, and terios Kid would be a useless option because the spare parts of these models are not available at least in Peshawar. Rather he went on to say that most dont even know about the existence of these cars. Here he said you will find mostly and easily available parts of all models of Suzuki, Toyota, Honda etc.
For the rest he said that he doesnt know, I may have to travel upto Karachi even for a simple screw.

Do you still want me to consider these cars despite the facts stated above

Very strange If parts for these models are available in Multan market and mostly dealer here purchase from KHI and Peshawar.How come they are not in Peshawar market.
Anyways Kid/Mini should be alternate options,according to your needs where usage is limited these two can be excellent options but worst thing is their resale

Few factor i believe support them

1-Comfortable Drive
2-Compact SUV run very well on roads u mention.
3-JDM so if you get one in good condition they will remain trouble free for long time
4-Value for Money
5-Excellent AC
6-Only Luxury vehicle within your budget
7-Auction report Applicable in few cases so you can estimate it's usage after 1st owner.

Not Supporting to Buy

1- NO CNG
2- Poor resale
3- Parts are Expensive

Never heard about ALTO JDM. Today I went to a few Bargain Centres on Main Jamrud Road Peshawar. Ironically apart from ALTO VXR, Vitz and Cultus, and a few Course here and there rest of the cars, they havent heard of. I saw a Pajero mini in One showroom but its back seats are a nightmare. How can one sit there is such a cramped space. Still wondering.
Here, in Peshawar, Paindo style still rules. Almost 98% of the showrooms are filled with Toyotas and Land Cruisers because the Tribal Junkies living here in Peshawar have a blind faith in Toyotas and Landcruisers. They dont bother about small toys here in KPK.

If you do some search on used cars in Peshawar u'll find many on PW
Secondly don't go for older model consider it as my sincere advice.
It's time to say goodbye to Charade and Margalla but if u like to go workshops frequently then welcome them.
Only old car which i can reckon is indus Corrola but it would be around 7lacs
Dear try to find slightly used new model of any brand which has little bit market.U can also consider zero meter Mehran i know ppl hate it but with booster break ,alloys and 165 tyres it's not too bad.
If you are a family guy and looking for peace of mind 10-15 years old vehicle could be nightmare.

for the pick and performence the Santro comes first but as far as the resale and maintanance, the Cutus an Alto are good but in my veiw the Cultus would be better choice

i am going to buy my first car, and i have a budget for a used one. i am confused which one to buy santro or alto, my personal opinion is in favor of santro , but i don't have idea of availability of spare parts for santro, i live in rawalpindi. need your help,
